After the departure of Cooper Kupp to NFC West rival Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angeles Rams had to revamp their wide receiver room in the 2025 NFL offseason.
Led by third-year receiver Puka Nacua, the Rams added Davante Adams to the mix, giving the Rams one of the best wide receiver duos in the league. After those two, LA lacks some depth in its WR room.
The Rams re-signed Tutu Atwell to a one-year, $10 million deal this offseason, who had 562 receiving yards last season. Jordan Whittington caught 22 receptions for 293 receiving yards in his rookie season. But a 2025 NFL Draft pick shine for the Rams this season.
CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso names seventh-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, Konata Mumpfield, as an under-the-radar rookie who can be a difference maker for Los Angeles.
“We know Sean McVay and Co. are unafraid to insert lower-drafted players into sizable roles in Los Angeles, and the seventh-rounder from Pittsburgh could very well be in line to see the fourth-most targets on this Rams team in 2025,” Trapasso wrote. Now, given that Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are distinctly ahead of everyone else in the receiving pecking order, who knows how many targets will be left over for Mumpfield and the other receiving options in L.A., but as a seventh-round pick, it’d be an accomplishment to see considerable run as a rookie.”
“By all accounts, he’s overachieved in camp, and he has four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown through two preseason contests. Don’t be surprised if Mumpfield snags some slot targets away from Tutu Atwell in 2025.”
Konata Mumpfield in Los Angeles

Konata Mumpfield played four seasons of collegiate football, including 3 seasons in the ACC with the University of Pittsburgh. In his collegiate career, the wide receiver totaled 2,691 yards and 19 touchdowns.
Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay called Mumpfield “the best receiver available” during their selection in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
“He makes some impressive adjustments too, now. Can change his route tempo. This is impressive. I like the way he’s wired, for sure. Mumpfield seems like a good pick in the seventh,” McVay said, via Rams Wire.
Mumpfield has been targeted 9 times by Rams third-string quarterback Stetson Bennett (who played the entirety of both preseason games). Forming chemistry with the QBs and getting snaps will be vital for the 242nd overall pick. It allows him to learn the scheme and build confidence behind the Puka and Adams in case the two were to suffer injuries.
Wide Receiver Room In LA

Konata Mumpfield has proved himself in the limited action he has seen in the preseason.
His performances have most likely secured his spot on the 53-man roster, but it doesn’t guarantee he will get much playing time in Los Angeles, let alone targets.
Puka Nacua and Davante Adams will receive the bulk of the targets (regardless of who is at quarterback). The Rams gave Atwell a fully guaranteed deal and will see more playing time.
If Mumpfield can perform well through training before the start of the new season, he could receive more time on the field and eventually give more production.
