Ravens Turn to Browns & Shedeur Sanders With Season on Line

The Baltimore Ravens keeping their season alive has come down to them putting all their playoff hopes and dreams into … the Cleveland Browns and rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

Believe it or not, the AFC North doormat and its rookie quarterback playing out of their bodies today and beating the Pittsburgh Steelers and pulling off an upset win is the only way for the Ravens to get a Winner-Take-All game against the Steelers in Week 18.

That only comes after the Ravens pulled off an upset of their own, defeating the Green Bay Packers, 42-24, on Saturday night in Week 17 behind a virtuoso night from running back Derrick Henry, who scored 4 touchdowns.

Now, though, it’s all on Sanders and the Browns, who are 3-12 headed into their home game against the 9-6 Steelers with the underachieving Ravens sitting at 8-8 overall.

Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley, who started against the Packers in place of Lamar Jackson, was actually Sanders’ teammate on the Browns during training camp and said he was going to try and reach out to the rookie following their win over the Packers.

“I’m trying to make it out of here so I can call Shedeur real quick,” Huntley said. “Just tell him to make sure to get it done.”

Sanders Leading Browns to Win: Don’t Bet On It

If the 2025 NFL regular season has taught us anything, it’s that the Browns are not the team you want to put money on if you’re betting on anything related to the NFL — other than edge rusher Myles Garrett getting sacks.

Sanders, who is Cleveland’s third starting quarterback this season after Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel, has actually showed some promise as a rookie and is making his sixth NFL start.

While Sanders is 1-4 through his first 5 starts, that includes a pair of 1-score losses, including when he threw for 364 yards in a 31-29 loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Sanders’ saw his first NFL snaps against the Ravens in relief of an injured Gabriel in the fourth quarter of a 23-16 Week 11 loss.

On the first play of his first offensive series, Sanders was sacked for an 11-yard loss by Ravens All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton, who did Sanders’ trademark “Perfect Timing” celebration after the sack. That series ended with a punt.

Sanders’ second series ended with an interception by Baltimore cornerback Nate Wiggins. His third series ended with another sack — after Hamilton dropped a point-blank interception — and this time for a 14-yard loss on 3rd-and-6 deep in Cleveland territory.

Weird Plot Twist Between Shedeur, Ravens

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported just hours ahead of the Browns traveling to face the Ravens in Week 2 that Sanders told the Ravens not to take him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL draft.

A surprising draft-day twist led to Shedeur Sanders winding up with the Browns,” Schefter wrote on his official X account on September 14. Ravens planned to take Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round, but before Baltimore could turn in the card, the former Colorado star let it be known that he didn’t want to be Jackson’s backup.
