Rookie WR Jack Bech Gets Brutally Honest About His Role in Raiders Offense

It goes without saying that, given their 2-7 record, the Las Vegas Raiders haven’t exactly been impressive this season. However, a closer look at the team’s performance will show you that things have been even worse than they appear. With the second half of the season underway, it may be time for the team to give rookie wide receiver Jack Bech a longer look.

The Raiders used a high draft pick on Bech, but to this point, he’s been an afterthought on offense, much to the irritation of the team’s fans. It isn’t for a lack of effort on Bech’s part, though, and with Las Vegas back in action in Week 11, it sounds like the former TCU Horned Frogs star is looking to take on a bigger role for his team.

Jack Bech Dishes on Role in Raiders’ Offense

Las Vegas selected Bech in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, indicating that the front office felt he could contribute to the team immediately. Considering how he caught 62 passes for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024 with TCU, it’s not hard to see what the line of thought was, but to this point, that hasn’t materialized.

In nine games, Bech has just seven receptions for 73 yards, as he’s struggled to carve out a role for himself in the Raiders’ offense. With Jakobi Meyers getting traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars, that seemingly paved the way for Bech to earn more snaps, but he received just one target that he did not catch in the team’s Week 10 loss to the Denver Broncos.

The team’s offensive struggles aren’t going away, which means it feels like Bech needs to step up alongside Tre Tucker and Brock Bowers in the passing game. After getting eased into the action, Bech made it clear he’s ready for a bigger role, and it will be interesting to see if head coach Pete Carroll decides to throw him into the fire in the wake of one of the offense’s worst games of the season.

“We’re all just fine-tuning everything, like we have been the whole season,” Bech said on Friday. “It was maybe a little bit of a rookie mindset … but now that has to go away. Now we’re getting called on to go win games, and that’s a role that we’re going to step into.”

Raiders Need Jack Bech to Step Up in Second Half of the 2025 Campaign

Las Vegas’ offensive struggles go way beyond Bech failing to carve out a role for himself early in the season. The Raiders have been unable to get anything going in either the run or pass game, thanks to one of the worst offensive lines in the league. In theory, that makes Bech more valuable, as he’s a shifty route runner who can free himself up quickly for Geno Smith under center.

To this point, Bech hasn’t made his mark for his new squad, but he’s a rookie, meaning he has time to figure things out. It’s clear, though, that Las Vegas could benefit greatly from him taking a step forward over the remainder of the season. After these comments, it will be worth keeping tabs on Bech to see if he can make a bigger impact in Week 11 against a weak Dallas Cowboys defense.
