The 36-year-old has starred for Inter since 2022, joining from Roma on a free transfer which followed an underwhelming spell in England with Arsenal and Manchester United.
During his time in England he played alongside Red Devils icon Rooney, with the pair reuniting at the San Siro last night, with the ex-England star appearing on Amazon Prime for the clash.
And after the game, Rooney was seen hugging and chatting to former Old Trafford colleagues Mkhitaryan and Matteo Darmian.
Asked what he had spoken about with his old team-mates by host Gabby Logan, Rooney said: “Yeah, obviously, they’re all delighted, as you could see.
“We were talking about the kids! We said congratulations, and then asked each other about the children.”
Amazon’s broadcast showed the heartwarming moment the stars embraced one another, with Rooney then pointing towards one of his children running on the pitch before they shared a laugh.
Rooney also reserved special praise for Darmian, who had come off the bench to replace Yann Aurel Bisseck in the 71st minute.
He said: “I’m delighted for them, especially Matteo, because he had difficult moments at times at Manchester United.”
