Sacramento Kings Get Exciting Keegan Murray Injury Update

The Sacramento Kings are getting some reinforcement back into their lineup.

While the Kings have struggled to figure out the correct starting lineup this season, a lot of that has been because of injuries. Keegan Murray has missed the entire season due to offseason thumb surgery, so replacing him has not been easy.

Sacramento no longer needs to figure out how to make the starting lineup work without him. After missing the first 15 games of the season, Murray is due to make his season debut against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Sacramento Kings Forward Keegan Murray to Make Season Debut

Murray is no longer listed on the NBA Injury report, meaning that he will be available against the Grizzlies. It’s unclear how many minutes Murray will play in his first game since last season. Without Murray on the floor, the Kings have the sixth-worst offense in the league.

The Kings have failed to generate easy offense, so they are hoping that Murray will be able to help with that. Right now, the Kings have the second-worst record in the Western Conference standings. If they have any hope of digging out of that hole, they need Murray to help them.

Without Murray in the lineup, the perimeter defense has suffered, as well. Murray’s length allows him to switch between multiple positions so that the lack of rim protection isn’t such a massive issue. Without him, opposing offenses have been able to drive into the paint more easily.

In fact, the Kings give up the third-most points in the paint right now. Adding Murray to the fold should help a little bit.

The Kings Rule Out Domantas Sabonis vs Grizzlies

While Murray will be returning to the lineup, the Kings will be without Domantas Sabonis for the game. He is listed out with left knee soreness. That hurts the Kings’ ability to move the ball, as Sabonis is the team’s best passer. Rebounding will be a problem, too.

Once the Kings are fully healthy, they will be able to fully assess if this lineup is one that will work. If it isn’t, then some moves could be made at the trade deadline to blow it up. The Kings will use the next few weeks to determine how they should proceed.
