Concern has been bubbling within the Trump family after golfer Tiger Woods landed himself in trouble again, an insider has claimed.
Last week, Woods flipped his Range Rover as he attempted to overtake a truck at high speed near his home on Jupiter Island, Florida.
Woods is one of the United States’ greatest ever sportsmen and a personal friend of the president. But the situation is reportedly of genuine concern because relatives of Donald Trump could well have been in the car. Woods is currently dating Donald Trump’s former daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump.
‘There would be concern if the kids weren’t being protected by Secret Service,’ a source told New York Post, adding that they’re ‘certainly not letting Tiger Woods — even without the DUI — drive the kids around.’
His partner Vanessa has five children with her former husband Donald Trump Jr: Kai (18), Donald Trump III (17), Tristan (14), Spencer (14), and Chloe (11).
Members of the president’s immediate family sit under round-the-clock federal protection. That doesn’t quietly disappear when a presidency wraps up his term, either. In this case, it runs until six months after Donald Trump leaves office in 2029.
The arrest has only sharpened the concern for the 50-year-old former world no. 1. Woods passed a breathalyser at the scene with ‘triple zeros’, but then refused to provide a urine sample.
Florida Police said he appeared ‘lethargic’ and showed ‘signs of impairment’, adding he seemed to be on ‘some type of medication or drug’.
Back in 2017, Woods was infamously found asleep behind the wheel of a running car, with his mugshot being widely shared online.
The 15-time major winner said at the time that he had ingested a problematic combination of prescription medications, later pleading guilty to reckless driving.
Sources were quick to stress that neither Vanessa Trump nor any of the children near the scene at the time of last week’s accident, and that no one from the family was directly caught up in what happened.
Donald Trump, for his part, has kept things pretty sympathetic. Speaking in Miami ahead of the Saudi-backed Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit, he made it clear he still sees Woods as a close friend.
‘I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty,’ Trump said.
The two have played plenty of golf together over the years, and Woods has been a guest at The White House on a few occasions.
Woods has been dating Vanessa since March last year and a source close to the couple told Daily Mail that the pair held ‘crunch talks’ after he was released from jail on Friday evening.
‘She’s not happy at all,’ the source said. ‘She’s both disappointed and a little bit p*****, if I’m being honest.
‘It’s a definite red flag and she told him that he’s going to get this sorted out, and that she’s going to require that. He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around.’
