The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the most important game of their season: a win-or-go-home showdown this Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. With the AFC North title on the line and bragging rights at stake, both teams will be battling to end the otherâs season.
Yes, that is the priority for the Steelers and their fans right now, but as the regular season comes to a close, discussions surrounding the draft are starting to heat up.
In his latest mock draft, NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports projects the Steelers to select wide receiver Jordyn Tyson (Arizona State) with the 20th overall pick. Wilson ranked Tyson as the top wide receiver prospect in the draft and the fourth overall prospect.
Wilson isnât the only analyst to hold the Arizona State product in such high regard. NFL Draft analyst Trevor Sikkema of PFF also has Tyson ranked as the number one wide receiver prospect entering the draft.
A selection like this for the receiver-needy Steelers could be excellent value, landing what many consider the best wide receiver in the draft at pick 20.

Draft Analysts Discuss Tyson
NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN has Tyson ranked as the 7th overall prospect on his big board.
“The Colorado transfer has lit up defenses for two seasons with the Sun Devils. Tyson’s superpower is being open even when it looks like he’s completely blanketed. It makes him essentially uncoverable in the red zone. He wins on 50-50 balls and outmuscles defensive backs,” wrote Kiper.
In his mock draft, Wilson wrote, “Tyson is an explosive receiver with the size, speed and catch radius to win at all three levels. A smooth hands-catcher, he consistently makes contested and high-point grabs look effortless while creating surprising separation at the top of his routes for his size.”
“Tyson can hit top-end speed in just a few steps and shows the type of short-area quickness reserved for smaller, shiftier WRs. He’s also an asset in the screen game, making him a dynamic threat both outside and from the slot,” wrote Wilson.
When discussing Tysonâs skill set, Sikkema wrote, “He makes impressive contested catches, though he also recorded some bad drops in 2024. He boasts inside-out versatility thanks to his strong blocking ability and good breaks on intermediate routes.”

Why a Wide Receiver Could Be a Key Draft Choice
Itâs no secret that the Steelers donât have a deep receiving corps with consistently reliable targets.
Besides Pittsburghâs top wide receiver, DK Metcalf, who has racked up 850 receiving yards this season, the second-most productive wide receiver in that category is Calvin Austin III with 317 receiving yards, according to ESPN.
With Metcalf absent last week due to suspension, the most productive wide receiver in the passing game was Scotty Miller, who recorded just 25 receiving yards in a game the Steelers needed to win to secure the division last week, leaving them in a âmust-winâ scenario this Sunday.
Adding a player like Tyson from Arizona State could be a solution to the obvious weak spot in the teamâs wide receiver corps.
