Stephen Curry Breaks Silence On Warriors Injury Return Vs. Rockets

After missing more than two months with a knee injury, Stephen Curry plans on returning for the Golden State Warriors in their upcoming game against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Curry’s return has been a much-anticipated event, and while the Warriors have struggled without the key piece of the team, they still have hopes of making a run in the playoffs.

Golden State is 36-41 and looks bound for yet another Play-In Tournament appearance, regardless of getting Curry back soon.

Stephen Curry Speaks On Injury Return

In a press conference the day before the key Warriors vs. Rockets game, the one in which Curry will make his return, the star spoke about what the team needs to do in the final few games of the regular season.

“Hopefully win two play-in games and then have another conversation,” Curry said about what the Warriors can do with him back. “That’s the only thing in front of us right now.”

As Curry said, Golden State is locked into the Play-In Tournament, regardless of what happens in the last games on their schedule. Still, head coach Steve Kerr has said multiple times that, if the team has Curry back, that’s all they need to potentially make a playoff run.

Before the game against the Rockets, Kerr spoke once again about what it would mean to get Curry back for the Warriors.

“He’s the greatest face of a franchise that I’ve ever seen,” he said. “We owe it to our fans to give them the opportunity to watch Steph Curry play basketball this year. And Steph doesn’t even think twice about that. That’s what he wants. That’s what we want. That’s what our fans want. So we’re going to do that.”

In addition to that, Golden State guard Gary Payton II added that with Curry back from injury, it would mean one thing for him.

“I get layups,” he said, per Anthony Slater. Wide open layups.”

In just 39 games this season, Curry is averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 46.8% shooting from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
