Team GB reveal traditional-looking kit for Paris Olympics 2024 after fury at Union Jack design forced U-turn

TEAM GB have unveiled their kit for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The kit for the opening ceremony on July 26 has also been released.

This year dark navy dominates as the Union Jack is also represented by red jackets and white socks.

A white Union Jack flag appears on the left sleeve of a blue jumper, with a traditional Union Jack on the white jumper.

Adidas revealed they wanted to “design DNA that celebrates the unique aspects of Great Britain, while encapsulating the fire of passion that burns within every athlete.”

While Olympic gold medallist Tom Daley reacted to the release saying: “Heading into my fifth Olympics, I can genuinely say that nothing compares to competing in my Team GB kit, knowing that all the training I’ve done is gearing towards hopefully winning a medal for my country.

“This new kit totally sums up that special feeling and I cannot wait to wear it in Paris this summer.”

The designers have gone for a neutral look with traditional colours in a U-turn from the merchandise put on sale earlier this month.

Fans hit out at the apparel released by Adidas after the company turned the Union Jack pink and purple.

The changed emblem is on “Supporters Flags” selling for £12 on the Team GB shop ahead of this year’s Paris Olympics.

Team GB responded by promising the official athletes’ kit would bear the traditional Union Jack colours as they looked to avoid a repeat of the controversial England kits.

The Three Lions’ Euro 2024 kits came under fire for the “woke” purple and blue England cross on the back of the shirt collars.
