Tennessee Titans Injuries that will Affect Your Fantasy Team

The Tennessee Titans travel to Sin City this weekend to take on the Las Vegas Raiders. It’s probably the most anticipated game in the NFL this season as the 1-4 Raiders and 1-4 Titans set out to prove who isn’t the worst team in the entire league.

And, the Titans got some interesting injury news on Friday that could/should impact the game. Kicker Joey Slye has been ruled out with a calf injury after he made the 29-yard, game-winning kick against the Arizona Cardinals.

“It’s one of those things where afterward, it can get worse. It can feel worse a day or two after. Hopefully, it’s nothing long-term,” head coach Brian Callahan said Friday, still riding the high of a one-game winning streak.

Tennessee Titans signed Matthew Wright to the practice squad

The Titans signed kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad on Wednesday, but of course he’ll be elevated to the active roster for the battle royale with the Raiders that takes place in the lobby of the Venetian Hotel (it’s at Allegiant Stadium, but it would probably be more entertaining in the Venetian just because).

Since 2020, the 29-year old Wright has bounced around the NFL quite a bit. His track record of employment underscores the tumultuous life of a kicker. He’s worked for Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, Pittsburgh again, Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, Kansas City again and now the Titans.

Got all that? Wright is the military family of NFL kickers.

He has a career field goal percentage of 87.3% and is 95.3% on extra point attempts. He’s a pretty good kicker, but apparently teams only want him for three weeks at a time.

“Matthew has kicked for a bunch of teams,” Callahan said. “He probably doesn’t have Slye’s range, but he’s accurate and consistent.”

Wright had kind of a here-we-go-again tone when talking about his opportunity.

“I’ve been doing it for a while, so I just want to keep doing it well,” Wright said.

J.C. Latham isn’t on the injury report for the Tennessee Titans

Slye headlines the early inactive list for the Titans, but there is an important name that isn’t on there. Offensive tackle J.C. Latham has missed weeks two through five with a hip muscle strain.

The rest of the players with “out” designations were posted on Friday by NFL writer Easton Freeze.

“OUT for Titans in Week 6 @ Raiders

– OL Blake Hance
– CB Marcus Harris
– EDGE Arden Key
– WR Bryce Oliver
– K Joey Slye,” Freeze posted on X.

Freeze initially said that Latham was off of the injury report completely, noting that he fully participated in Friday’s practice.

“No injury designation for JC Latham this week,” Freeze wrote. He later amended that to, “hold that thought, Latham will technically be questionable. Emphasis on “technically.”

That means that Latham is absolutely playing and that means wonders for quarterback Cam Ward. That should help the Titans be less “ass?”

The game kicks off Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET and considering how not-good each team is, it should be a competitive game.
