The Houston Texans could be in the market for another playmaker and, what is more, yet another Iowa State product, in New York Jets running back Breece Hall, before the 2025 trade deadline.
Set for November 4, there are mixed feelings about the kind of activity that this trade deadline could yield.
Hall has been a consistent source of intrigue, though, with the Texans mentioned in connection.
Texans Trade Proposal Lands Jets RB Breece Hall

Hall was the No. 36 overall pick of the 2022 draft by the Jets, taken one slot ahead of Texans defensive back Jalen Pitre, with whom he could be teammates following a trade from New York to Houston.
Three years later, the multi-talented playmakers could be teammates before the 2025 trade deadline passes.
This Heavy Sports trade proposal aims to make that hypothetical scenario a reality.

Jets get:
- Dameon Pierce

ESPN’s Rich Cimini noted the double-edged sword of a potential Hall trade for the Jets.
“He is in the final year of his rookie contract and a productive player (eighth in total scrimmage yards), which should make him attractive to contending teams. He’s been the subject of trade rumors since the draft, and they will only intensify,” Cimini wrote on October 11. “The Braelon Allen situation — he will miss at least two months with a knee injury — complicates matters at running back. If the Jets deal Hall, they’d leave themselves perilously thin.
“Unless it’s a player-for-player swap, bringing back, say, a starting wide receiver, a Hall trade would signal to the locker room they’re giving up on the season. Conversely, if they do nothing, they risk losing him in the offseason as a free agent.”
A potential Texans’ offer of Pierce and draft capital could entice the Jets. They would take on another player in a contract year with Pierce (107th overall in 2022), but would add draft capital.
Texans Playmaker All For Breece Hall Trade

The Texans roster three players who attended Iowa State, all of whom are wide receivers. Two of those receivers, third-year man Xavier Hutchinson and rookie third-round selection Jaylin Noel, played with Hall on the Cyclones during the 2021 season.
“There’s a lot of talk about the Texans adding another one [Cyclone],” Kay Adams told Hutchinson on “Up & Adams” on October 9, of which the receiver denied any knowledge.
“I haven’t heard any of that news, but the more, the merrier, right?” Hutchinson told Adams after Hall’s situation was brought up. “I’ve talked to him here and there, of course. When you get to the season, you get a little busy. So, you can only really chit-chat for just a little bit. But whatever happens with Breece’s situation happens. If it does happen, I’m going to be ecstatic for him. If it doesn’t, I’ll still be happy.”
“Breece is just a dawg,” Hutchinson told Adams. “There’s no other way to really explain it. So, the more that you can add just dawgs on the team, you’re going to be better, right? You’re going to be in a better position to win, and you’re just going to – I don’t know. I’ll just be happy if Breece was somehow able to come to the Houston Texans. I feel like that’d be great.”
Hall, 24, has rushed for 351 yards on 66 carries this season, but he has yet to cross the goal line. However, he logged back-to-back seasons with at least 200 carries, over 800, and 5 touchdowns in 2022 and 2023.
Hall is in the final year of a four-year, $9 million rookie-scale contract.
Hall has a 578-2,684-14 line as a runner and 169-1,442-8 one as a receiving threat out of the backfield, giving him 747 total touches, 4,126 yards, and 22 TDs in his career.
Texans Can Make Good Use of Bye Week

The Texans are on their bye, allowing them to evaluate Hall or any other potential trade targets before the deadline, which falls on Tuesday, November 4, at 4 p.m. ET this year. Hall and the Jets are in London, taking on the Denver Broncos.
There remain questions about their plans at the deadline, including regarding Hall’s future with the only NFL franchise he has known.
The Texans are without Joe Mixon, and they could be for the remainder of the 2025 season.
However, the Texans also have four-time Pro Bowler Nick Chubb and have seen an uptick in production from rookie fourth-round pick Woody Marks. Any potential Texans trade at the deadline, for Hall or another target, must account for many factors.
