Tennessee got blown out in their preseason opener, 29-7, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Boyle was the third quarterback on the field for the Titans. He operated the final four drives of the game.

Those four drives resulted in a punt, another punt, an interception, and a pick-six.

“Titans QB Tim Boyle tonight: 4-for-13, 24 yards, 2 INTs, 0.6 passer rating,” FOX NFL Insider Greg Auman posted on social media.

“Tim Boyle has to be a con artist. This is Frank Abagnale level stuff. How has a guy with that college career lasted 6 years in the NFL? This man has made EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS,” NFL analyst Nick Lombardi posted.

A Snapshot of the Jets’ Troubled History at the QB Position

Boyle, 30, left a bad taste in Jets fans’ mouths.

After Aaron Rodgers blew out his Achilles in the 2023 season opener, the Jets went through a lot of different players at the QB position.

Boyle was one of those names. During that season, he appeared in three games and made two starts.

The first start resulted in one of the worst plays in NFL history.

Gang Green was down 10-6 to the Miami Dolphins on the first-ever Black Friday NFL game on Thanksgiving weekend. There were two seconds left on the game clock in the first half with the Jets at the 50-yard line.

Boyle chucked it toward the end zone for a Hail Mary attempt. Instead of finding a Jets player, he found then Dolphins safety Jevon Holland, who returned it 99 yards to the house for a touchdown.

“I can not believe what I just saw. A 99-yard Hail Mary Pick Six. Tim Boyle’s first TD pass as a Jet,” NFL Network’s Rich Eisen reacted.

Siemian’s History With the Jets Isn’t Much Better

In 2019, the Jets thought they had their franchise quarterback with Sam Darnold. During the season opener, the Jets led 16-0 over the Buffalo Bills.

Gang Green collapsed in the second half and ended up losing 17-16. Following the game, the football Gods added insult to injury.

Darnold had contracted mononucleosis and was ruled out “indefinitely.” So heading into Week 2, the Jets turned to Siemian for a Monday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns.

Halfway through the second quarter of that game, Browns superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett sacked Siemian. During the play, Siemian’s ankle snapped, tearing “multiple ligaments” ending his season.
