Travis Kelce dominated the Kansas City Chiefs mandatory minicamp, which wrapped up on Thursday — though it wasn’t the 35-year-old tight end’s performance at practice that turned heads, as much the media’s questions about him.
After 12 years in the NFL, four first-team All Pro selections and three Super Bowl rings, much of the questioning centered on Kelce’s potential retirement.
After a down year when he posted career lows in receiving yards and touchdowns, as well as a subpar performance in the Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and the fact that Kelce appears to be enjoying his off-field life more than ever — thanks largely to his high-profile relationship with pop megastar Taylor Swift — it would not have been surprising if the active career leader in tight end receiving yards (12,151) simply decided to hang up his shoulder pads.
But that was not the case, as Kelce confirmed at minicamp, admitting that he “failed” in 2024 and would be “setting the bar even higher for myself this year than I had in the past.”
Not Focused on Weight Loss at Fancy NYC Italian Joint
The other topic of conversation at Chiefs’ minicamp was Kelce’s apparent weight loss.
Arriving with a clearly trimmed-down physique, Kelce denied rumors that had dropped 25 pounds in the offseason. But he acknowledged that he had indeed lost weight, which he attributed to an offseason running program, and “some things early on in the offseason that I just didn’t have time for last year.”
But Kelce was clearly not focused on losing weight, or even keeping it off, all least judging by the spot he and Swift picked for a date to mark the end of Chiefs’ minicamp.
According to a report Saturday by the New York Post — and to video captured by a fan and posted on Instagram — the ultra-high-profile couple flew into New York City on a private jet Friday afternoon, and that evening headed for a super-swanky Italian eatery in Manhattan’s chi-chi SoHo district.
The fan video captured Swift and Kelce exiting Torrisi, an exclusive, Michelin-starred restaurant located in New York City’s historic Puck Building at 275 Mulberry Street in SoHo, a small neighborhood also known as Little Italy.
Torrisi has a well-earned reputation as one of the toughest reservations in town, needing to be booked 30 days in advance in most cases. But for Swift and Kelce, it is highly doubtful that a reservation was required.
What’s on the Menu For Swift and Kelce?
There were no reports on what the power couple ate at their Friday night dinner, but Torrisi is known for its “tasting menu” that reportedly serves two people for $580. That’s before drinks, tip and tax.
Some of the dishes served at Torrisi, and recommended by New York Times food critics, include charred clam boule, sliced boar’s head on rye, octopus Nha Trang; tortellini pomodoro; Dover sole Francese and duck alla mulberry.
As the fan video revealed, despite the high-class atmosphere and pricey menu, Torrisi does not enforce a dress code, at least not for upper echelon celebrities.
“Kelce wore similar clothes to what he arrived in, as he donned a white short-sleeved shirt with two buttons, a round blue collar and ‘U.S. Soccer’ across the front in blue, in addition to white shorts and white sneakers,” according to the Post report.
“Swift had on a light blue strappy top with a white pleated mini skirt and white pointy stilettos shoes, to go along with a mini shoulder bag,” the Post added.
