Vikings’ Aaron Jones Sr. Makes Feelings Clear on Packers Game

At 4-6, the Minnesota Vikings‘ playoff hopes are fading, if they haven’t already. The two home losses to the Baltimore Ravens and the Chicago Bears have put the team in a hole that might be hard to get out of.

Despite the gloomy outlook for the Vikings, veteran running back Aaron Jones Sr. isn’t willing to throw in the towel on Minnesota’s 2025 NFL season just yet.

The Vikings have a challenging Week 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. If Minnesota want any shot at making the playoffs, they need to win this game on the road at Lambeau Field. As a result, Jones is doing his best to set the tone within the squad and preach that this is a must-win game for them.

“I feel like every week is a must-win now,” Jones told reporters on November 19. “So I mean you’ll get that urgency from me and spreading that around to the guys, but as far as pressing, I feel like we don’t need to necessarily press anymore because that’s when guys start to press, they feel like they got to do more than their job and we just everybody just has to do their job.”

Vikings’ Aaron Jones Sr. Is Ready to Play Against the Packers

Jones will be playing in a venue that he knows all too well, having played for the Packers from 2017 to 2023. While Jones knows it’s a business trip to get a win and keep their playoff hopes alive, he also expressed excitement about playing at Lambeau Field.

“Definitely excited to go back,” Jones added. “Last time I was there was welcome with much love and that’s always appreciated. So anytime I get to go back, it feels like a full circle moment and just to take time to realize the the the path that I’ve been on this journey and all that it’s taken and what more it’s going to take.”

Aaron Jones Sr. Looks to Help Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy

J.J. McCarthy has struggled at times throughout this season. While the Vikings quarterback is facing pressure to help keep Minnesota in the playoff picture, he is also navigating what is essentially his rookie season after missing his first year due to injury.

Nonetheless, Jones is doing his best to keep his quarterback’s spirits up amid the tough stretch.

“I told J.J. after the game [against the Bears that] I was proud of him,” Jones said. “Just that, never quit. I’ve seen guys turn the ball over, maybe fumble the ball, and they get in a place where they can’t really go back on the field, or when they step back on the field, they’re not themselves. And for him to always keep us in the game, or even give us a chance at the end, where we go up and win it. That’s what I’m most proud of: That he’s not giving up. He’s not quitting.

“He makes a mistake. He’s holding himself accountable, and then he’s coming on the sideline like, ‘Hey, I can’t do that.’ And we’re talking about it. We know it’s going to take reps; there’s going to be some growth, and he’s been doing that all year, but with him doing that all year, we’re still in every game that we can win every game. That’s why I have the utmost confidence in J.J. and we can get this thing done.”
