Who is Billy Vunipola’s wife, Simmone?

Vunipola is married to Simmone Jo-Anne Lewer, a gestational diabetes dietitian with more than 11 years of experience in the field.

According to the Association of UK Dietitians where she is registered, Simmone is originally Australian, and she started her career helping pregnant Aboriginal women in the outback.

In 2012, she moved to the UK and worked in the NHS specialising in diabetes and antenatal diabetes services.

At the same time, she studied a masters in public health at Monash University and completed post graduate courses on fertility and pregnancy.

However, she left the NHS in 2021 as she “felt burnout and frustrated”.

She added: “I hated the restriction of having only 10 minutes to help Mums with Gestational Diabetes and I knew I WANTED TO DO MORE!”

After helping a close friend with the condition, she continued her private practice.

She states: “I now dedicate my career to help mums so they can learn how to balance blood sugars while still ENJOYING pregnancy.”

She can be found on Instagram @gestationaldiabetesdietitian, where she provides advice about maintaining blood sugar levels.

The rugby star nicknamed his wife “my vanilla glace” on Instagram.

When did Billy Vunipola marry Simmone?

Vunipola married his wife Simmone in 2019. The pair admitted that their wedding wasn’t without stress. Vunipola said afterwards: “I’m glad it’s done! The wedding was awesome and I’m obviously very happy to be married to my wife,” the powerful back-row said.

He added: “My family are very demanding in terms of all the traditional things. I’ve grown up my whole life in the UK, so it was tough to get my head around that.”

Where did Billy Vunipola marry Simmone?

Vunipola married Simmone in Tonga, to honour his Tongan heritage.

The pair took part in a traditional Tongan ceremony at the Liku’alofa Beach Resort.

His father is former Tonga captain Fe’ao Vunipola and his mother, Iesinga Vunipola, a Methodist minister in High Wycombe.

Do Billy Vunipola and Simmone have children?

In 2020, the Saracens player welcomed his first child with Simmone.

The couple have a son named Judah, which was revealed in a press release updating England fans on the squad for the 2020 Autumn Nations Cup.

It read: “Billy Vunipola will join up with the squad on Sunday after the birth of his son earlier this week.”

Vunipola had announced he was expecting his first child on The Good, The Bad and The Rugby podcast when he said: “I’m pretty pumped, I’ve grown up with a lot of kids in the house, whether they’re babies, toddlers, my little cousins. 

“I think the one thing I am worried about is my sleep, I sleep through a lot of things.

“I’m hoping I’ll do the morning shifts, I’ve been getting up at 6-6.30 to try and prepare myself but I’ve been trying to put in little things for me to be better at when the baby does come.”

In 2021, Vunipola described his performances in recent games as “rubbish” and said he had been a “coward” by “holding back” to cope with his fatigue.

He lamented on being away from his family, saying: “I think the biggest thing that hindered my mental application was that three weeks ago was the first time that I left my wife and kid at home. 

“I was sat in my [hotel] room thinking: ‘Oh, this Covid stuff is rubbish. I just want to be at home with my wife’.”

They currently live in St Albans with their three-year-old.
