Brandon Flowers, Mandy Moore, Brad Paisley, among names assembled for ‘Concert for Altadena’

An array of well-known performers have been enlisted to mark the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 7 Palisades and Eaton fires, organizers announced this week.

Los Angeles-based folk rock band Dawes has assembled names such as Brad Paisley, Jackson Browne, Mandy Moore, Jenny Lewis, Brandon Flowers, Aloe Blacc, Eric Krasno, Judith Hill, Stephen Stills, Everclear and Ozomatli to perform in a Concert for Altadena, to be performed at the Pasadena Civic Center on Jan. 7.

The concert will benefit the Altadena Builds Back Foundation, a subsidiary of the Pasadena Community Foundation. The foundation focuses on long-term housing recovery post-Eaton fire. Proceeds will also go to PCF’s Eaton Fire Relief & Recovery Fund, providing resources to community-based nonprofit organizations supporting families affected by the Eaton fire.

A slew of musicians lost their homes and instruments in the January fires, which spawned several music-specific recovery organizations, such as Altadena Musicians, which donates instruments to fire-impacted artists.

Several musicians on the anniversary concert line-up were among those impacted.

Country singer Brad Paisley’s first home with his wife burned down in the Palisades fire. Aloe Blacc’s family lost several properties alongside his children’s school, Pasadena Waldorf.

Blacc has been active in rebuilding efforts through his work with the philanthropy organization, The Change Reaction, which aims to provide direct financial assistance to affected workers and fire survivors.

Actress and singer Mandy Moore shared via Instagram a photo of her fire-destroyed Altadena home, saying that “the contents of our home are a near total loss.”

Jenny Lewis, who just wrapped up her reunion tour with her band Rilo Kiley, reunited with her fellow members by performing together at the G*ve a F*ck benefit concert in February. Lewis shared on X that she and her dog evacuated their home due to the fires on the eve of her birthday.

Dawes’ Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith, the main organizers of the concert, lost their homes and recording studio in the Eaton fire. Their parents lost their Altadena home as well as their childhood Malibu home. The band performed with Stephen Stills and Graham Nash at FireAid and released a cover of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” to benefit MusiCares, an independent non-profit founded by the Recording Academy that pledged $1 million to support music professionals impacted by the January fires.

“It’s gonna be a heavy night but it’s going to be a beautiful one, too,” the band wrote on Instagram.
