Man victim of sexual battery near UC Berkeley campus

BERKELEY — Police are investigating the sexual battery of a man Saturday morning near the UC campus, authorities said Monday.


No arrests were announced.

The man, a Berkeley resident in his 20s, told police he was walking home in the South Campus area about 1:50 a.m. Saturday when another man he did not know tried to engage him in conversation.

When the man tried to leave, the other man pulled him into a driveway in the 2300 block of College Avenue near Bancroft Way and sexually battered him, police said. No other details about the attack were released.

The victim did not report what happened until Sunday. Police have not said why he waited.

A detailed description of the suspect was not released.
