President Trump’s new Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin was asked on Newsmax by host Rob Schmitt, “Are we staying strong on the idea of deportations for all illegals, or have we moved to criminal illegal aliens as the focus?”
Mullin replied, “No, we’re staying focused on all illegals, without question.” He added, “Truth is, we’re purposely trying to be a little bit more quiet.”
Mullin said that since his nomination he’s wanted “to get DHS out of the headlines,” and added, “but that doesn’t mean we’re slowing down even a little bit.” Mullin said, “just yesterday we arrested over 1,900 individuals,” and noted the agency has over 60,000 individuals currently being detained, “going through the process of being deported.”
The X account of Homeland Dems replied: “ICE is trying to be ‘quiet’ because the American people have seen the videos. They’ve seen ICE racially profile, assault and even kill U.S. citizens.”
The American Solidarity Party of Wisconsin also replied: “‘A little more quiet’ apparently means keeping abuse and use of force against detainees under the radar,” with a link to a Washington Post article titled, “Internal ICE records reveal widespread use of force in detention centers.”
Other critics of the Trump administration questioned Mullin’s “quiet” claim, while bragging on national TV about arresting 1,900 individuals in one day.
