Warriors’ Steph Curry Announces Exciting Off-Court News

The Golden State Warriors have the play-in tournament on the horizon. But off the court, Stephen Curry has been making moves of his own.

On Tuesday, Curry announced a partnership with Sotheby’s to auction more than 70 sneakers he wore throughout the 2025-26 season. The online auction runs from April 13 to 28, with all proceeds going to the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, the charitable organization Curry co-founded with his wife Ayesha.

It is a fitting way to close out one of the more unique chapters of his career.

What Curry Said About the Auction

Curry parted ways with Under Armour in November following the end of a partnership that began after he left Nike back in 2013. Rather than sign with a new brand immediately, he spent the season as a sneaker free agent, using his footwear as a platform to pay tribute to players past and present.

On any given night, Curry might lace up throwback sneakers from a franchise legend of the team the Warriors were facing, or wear the current signature shoe of a star like Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, or Anthony Edwards. It became one of the quietly compelling storylines of the Warriors’ season.

Curry reflected on what the collection means to him.

“I’ve always believed that every pair of sneakers tells a story,” Curry said in a release. “This collection really captures a unique chapter for me during my sneaker free agency this season. From the tunnel walks to the on-court warm-ups to the games across the country, I was excited to spend this time shining a light on players over the years who have left their mark on the sneaker game.”

He was equally passionate about where the proceeds are headed.

“What makes this even more special is the impact it can have off the court,” Curry said. “Every dollar raised will support Eat. Learn. Play., where we focus on the everyday needs that shape a child’s future with access to food, literacy, and safe places to play and grow.”

A Season of Sneaker Tributes

The collection spans the full breadth of what Curry set out to accomplish this season. Beyond current NBA stars, he also wore signature shoes from prominent WNBA players, using the platform to shine a light on the women’s game at a time when its momentum continues to build.

“From the legendary NBA stars that I grew up admiring, to the current players that I’ve enjoyed competing against, along with some of the biggest names in the WNBA that are helping to drive the momentum across the women’s game, I had so much fun breaking out pairs all season long,” Curry said.

Each pair in the collection represents something specific. A player. A moment. A chapter in basketball history that Curry wanted to honor. Over 70 sneakers across one season is a remarkable archive, and the auction gives fans a chance to own a piece of it.

What It Means Beyond Basketball

Curry has long used his platform for causes beyond the game. The Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation has become one of the more impactful athlete-led charitable organizations in the country, focused on providing children with access to food, education, and safe spaces to grow.

Turning a season of sneaker tributes into a fundraising vehicle for that mission is exactly the kind of move that reflects who Curry is off the court. The shoes told stories during the season. Now they will fund something lasting after it.

“Partnering with Sotheby’s to bring this auction to life gives these sneakers a platform beyond the game,” Curry said. “Where they can live on and mean something to someone else.”

Final Word for the Warriors

The play-in tournament is around the corner. The sneaker free agency chapter is closing.

Curry spent a season honoring the game’s greats through his footwear. Now those same shoes will help feed, educate, and support children who need it most.

That is Steph Curry in a nutshell.
