Woman arrested for attempted murder after ‘car ploughs into crowd’ in Soho

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a car allegedly mounted the curb and ran down pedestrians in Soho.
The crash on the busy theatre district of Argyll Street in central London took place at around 4.30am this morning.
A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital, where she remains in a critical condition, another man in his 50s sustained ‘life-changing’ injuries.
A third woman, aged in her 30s, was treated for minor injuries.
The Met Police said it arrested a 29-year-old woman driver on suspicion of attempted murder, GBH, dangerous driving and drink driving.

She remains in police custody.
The Met said the collision is not considered to be terror-related.
DCI Alison Foxwell, of Specialist Crime South, said: ‘As our enquiries continue, our thoughts are with those injured and their loved ones.
‘While this incident took place in the early hours of the morning, venues in the area were still open, and we believe a number of people will have seen what happened.
‘I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or any activity prior to it that they feel may be of relevance, to come forward.
‘The information you have – however minor you believe it may be – could be of crucial importance to investigators.’
