Fans of Euphoria have been left reeling after a controversial new scene featuring Sydney Sweeney has been revealed, with many calling it ‘disgusting’ and ‘deeply uncomfortable.’
The moment, which appeared in the second episode of season three, shows Sweeney’s character Cassie posing for an OnlyFans photoshoot while dressed as a baby, complete with a diaper and pacifier.
It was an image that had already drawn criticism when it first appeared in the trailer, but now that the episode, titled America My Dream, has aired, viewers say the full context has only made things worse.
In the scene, Cassie is styled with pigtails and a sheer top, posing suggestively for the camera.
The character later explains she created the content to appeal to a niche audience, describing it as catering to a ‘whole subculture… adult babies,’ after receiving repeated requests.
The storyline ties into Cassie’s ongoing arc this season, which sees her attempting to fund an extravagant $50,000 wedding to Nate, played by Jacob Elordi, through explicit online content.
But fans aren’t convinced by the creative direction from series creator Sam Levinson, with many accusing the show of losing its emotional depth in favour of shock value.
On X, reactions poured in almost immediately. One user wrote, ‘Seeing Cassie in a baby outfit made me so uncomfortable.’
Another added, ‘Cassie not the baby positions 😵💫😵💫 #euphoria,’ while someone else questioned the decision entirely, writing, ‘I’m so glad someone checked Cassie asking her why she’s dressed as a baby. Still weird as hell Sam put that in the show & that she agreed to do it.’

Others were more blunt, with one post reading, ‘cassie is lowkey nasty asf tf why would you set yourself up like that bby. AN ADULT BABY?? BE SO FR,’ and another simply stating, ‘That’s some pedo s*** bruh.’
Some viewers also used the moment to criticise the show’s wider trajectory, ‘I don’t understand how euphoria went from the beautiful masterpiece that was s1 to cassie being dressed as a baby… sam levinson you will pay for ur sins,’ one fan wrote.
Not all reactions were entirely negative, however, with at least one user pushing back against the tone of the criticism: ‘ty for implying that an adult baby is disgusting, i was literally gonna get violent #Euphoria.’
Still, the dominant response has been discomfort, with many arguing the series has shifted away from its earlier nuanced portrayal of teenage life into something more provocative without a clear purpose.
Levinson has previously defended the explicit nature of his work, noting during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival that, ‘We live in a very sexualized world. The influence of pornography is really strong in terms of the psyche of young people.’
But for many viewers, this latest storyline is dangerous because it doesn’t seem to say anything of substance besides: ‘Isn’t this crazy?!’
