Christine Quinn returning to Selling Sunset is going to save the show

Over the past seven years, I’ve watched all 90 episodes of the reality series Selling Sunset – but the last few seasons have been missing one pivotal person.

Although many people wouldn’t bat an eyelid at spending a countless amount of time locking into their favourite series (or guilty pleasure binge-watch), I’m somewhat pained to admit I’ve done the maths and have spent around 45 hours tuning in to the nine seasons of this hit Netflix series.

However in recent years the show has lost its shine without the presence of Christine Quinn, a self-proclaimed villain who gained a legion of fans for being unafraid to speak her mind – which unsurprisingly got her into a tonne of trouble.

For the uninitiated, Selling Sunset follows the owners and agents of the Oppenheim Group, a high-end real estate brokerage firm based in Los Angeles.

As well as giving a sneak peek into homes most of us can only ever dream about owning, the series has also seen viewers get an insight into the private lives of the agents.

Over the nine seasons many have come and gone – with several exits coming about following explosive rows with their colleagues and frenemies.

Although some of the drama has become draining to watch at times, one person who stirred the pot and knew how to make great TV was the show’s one-time villain Christine.

‘Just because I’m witty and funny and I’m quick and I’m smart and I say these things, I get cast as the quote unquote villain, but I’m not a mean girl,’ she once declared.

‘I just call it like it is. I think it’s a quality that everyone would love to have, but everyone doesn’t necessarily have, you know? It’s a blessing and it’s a curse.’

Over five seasons Christine never held back sharing her thoughts and opinions – dropping both hilarious and brutal one-liners.

‘Nothing about me is fake except my boobs,’ she once infamously declared on the show.

‘I’m not here to make friends, I’m here to make money,’ she made clear on other occasion.

But perhaps her no f***’s given attitude was best summed up upon once sharing: ‘I just wanna say whatever the f*** I want and no one to get offended!’

Despite her never taking what anyone said to heart, her perceived icy personality rubbed others on the show the wrong way.

She also faced fallouts with once-close friends like Mary Bonnet, who would defend Christine against her naysayers before eventually growing tired of being the mediator and took a step back.

In 2022 Christine sensationally quit after being accused of bribing a client of fellow agent Emma Hernan to not work with her.

Although the drama between the group still continued in Christine’s absence, the show has been missing a firecracker personality – which is why I am celebrating her return.

This week it was announced Christine, 37, and fellow original cast member Heather Rae El Moussa were back on board for the upcoming 10th season.

Having reconnected with the show’s creator Adam DiVello after her split from ex-husband Christian Dumontet – who was arrested in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident in 2024 – Christine said she’d be returning to the show ‘from a very different place, with more perspective, confidence, and clarity’.

After being portrayed as the show’s villain – a role she wholeheartedly embraced too – she now says becoming a mum has made her ‘more intentional and much more protective of my peace’. She shares son Christian Georges, 4, with her ex.

However, she did say she felt ready to take on any drama that may come her way when stepping back into the O Group office.

The only thing bigger than the real estate listings is the drama. Even with views from the Hollywood Hills, you won?t always see what?s coming when two new agents join The Oppenheim Group. ‘I’m still ambitious and direct, but I think people will see a version of me that’s more centred and even more sure of herself. I’m not coming back to play an old version of myself. I’m coming back to show where I am now and let the audience see that growth can still come with an edge.’

In recent seasons of the show there’s been ongoing issues between Nicole Young and several other agents, but the personal jabs have started to feel tiring and below the belt after b*****ness about each other’s private lives have become dragged out storylines and never actually get resolved.

Instead of gossiping behind the other women’s back, Christine and her no holds barred approach to addressing conflict will be a welcome return – as will her undeniable talent for securing listings and selling multi-million-dollar properties.

Sharing the news of her return on social media, Christine declared: ‘I’m back b******… Did you miss me?’

Many fans of the show rushed to express their excitement, with one declaring: ‘The queen of reality tv is back and better than ever!’

‘The OG queen who made the show a worldwide success is back and I can’t wait to be entertained!’ another wrote.

Others said that she wasn’t the villain and that the other women ‘just don’t know how to handle’ her.

While I’ve continued to be a loyal viewer of Selling Sunset, my attention has started to wane in recent seasons, and I’ve found myself growing tired of some of the show’s cast and the constant rehashing of whatever drama they have with each other.

Watching yelling matches across dinner tables and women ganging up on each other has seen the show lose its sparkle and feel exhausting to watch.

Having Christine back in the fold will give things a shake-up and see the show’s ‘villain’ return to speak her mind – but maybe this time airing her issues and moving on to allow viewers dive back into the best part of the show – the enviable property porn.

Selling Sunset is streaming on Netflix.
