Sherri Shepherd Airs Last Live Show in Tears as Her Dream Guest Makes Surprise Appearance

Sherri Shepherd’s Daytime Emmy Award-winning talk show, “Sherri,” aired its last live segment on Thursday, April 30, after four seasons as a syndicated series.

Although “Sherri” will air through the fall with pre-taped segments, Shepherd was given her final round of applause in the company of one of her personal favorites: Kevin Hart.  

“My next guest is a complete mystery to me, but they are backstage right now, and I am going to try and figure out who it is,” Shepherd shared with her audience.

When Hart stepped on the stage, Shepherd’s excitement was through the roof! She couldn’t believe her eyes. As the comedian and talk show host sat down, Shepherd explained how Hart has been her dream guest for so many years.

“You’re about to cry!” Hart pointed out.

Shepherd responded in tears, “I am about to cry because I’ve been asking you so long. I’ve been saying, ‘Kevin, I need you to come on my show!’”

As their segment continued, a photo of Hart’s wax figure from the Hollywood Wax Museum in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, popped up on the screen for the audience to see. “Congratulations! They said you got your own wax figure…you got your own wax figure, Kevin?!” Shepherd said.

Hart playfully responded, “No, no, … That’s not [me],” as the design resembled what Hart went on to describe as a combination of fellow comics Tracy Morgan and Anthony Anderson.

“Respectfully, I don’t know the artist that’s responsible for the wax figure but it just made me question… When you finish that and you step back and you get your utensils and you look at it… I feel like there’s a moment where you say to yourself, ‘I [expletive] this up,’” Hart added as he roasted his wax figure.

As he continued, Hart suggested that, at one point, the artist had to have realized they were “looking at the wrong picture” when they were in the process of creating it.

Shepherd and the audience couldn’t help but to laugh at the comedian’s point of view as he added that what was meant to be an honorable nod actually “had an impact on his self-esteem.”

“I asked my wife, ‘Is this what you see?’ the comic quipped.

“It’s the most humbling thing in the world … I don’t think I’m a bad-looking guy, but I definitely don’t think I’m [expletive] that!” Hart continued. “Like, I’m not that. And I’m sorry to cuss; I know this is television, but it upsets me, Sherri, it really does. It [expletive] me off a little bit that that’s what they saw.”

Sherri Shepherd’s Next Big Move

While Hart’s surprise guest appearance on the “Sherri” show marked a pivotal — and special — moment for Shepherd, what comes next for the daytime talk show host is another round of great success, as she continues her 2026 comedy tour, “Make It Make Sense.” 

Shepherd will also remain on TV, as she shared in March that she was cast in the Lifetime movie “Angel in the Rubble” — a true story about 9/11 survivor Genelle Guzman-McMillan, who was the last survivor found at Ground Zero in New York City on September 11, 2001, when the World Trade Center was struck by two airplanes in a terrorist attack.

Shepherd will star as Genelle Guzman-McMillan in the Lifetime movie. The film is slated for a television premiere in September 2026 to mark the 25th memorial of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
