Goldie Hawn may have had a very close encounter with the third kind: she claims an alien once touched her.
The actress and mother of Kate Hudson is known for appearing in the likes of Death Becomes Her, First Wives Club and Private Benjamin, and recently appeared on Apple Fitness audio Time To Walk.
The Oscar-winning actress, known for films including Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club, has spoken previously about the experience, but revisited it this week during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, adding new details about what she remembers.
Hawn said the encounter dates back to her late teens, when she was working as a dancer in California and living in a small apartment.
‘I looked up in the sky and I said, “I know you’re up there, and I know we’re not alone, and I want to meet you one day,”’ she recalled.
According to Hawn, something happened just a few months later while she was working in West Covina. Feeling suddenly exhausted, she lay down in a colleague’s car — before experiencing something she still struggles to fully explain.
‘I heard a high-pitched sound in my ear… and I remember looking at my hand and my body, and I couldn’t move anything. I was completely paralysed,’ she said.
Looking out of the car window, she claimed to have seen small figures observing her.
‘Two people… looking at me with triangular-shaped heads, sort of silver colour,’ she said, adding that they appeared to communicate through sound rather than speech.
At the time, Hawn said she wasn’t sure whether the experience had been a dream — until years later, when she read accounts of alleged alien encounters describing similar sensations, including paralysis and high-frequency sounds.
It was only much later, after discussing the incident with an astrophysicist, that she said she recalled what she now considers the most significant part of the encounter.
‘I suddenly remembered… they touched my face,’ she said, becoming emotional as she spoke. ‘It was the most benevolent touch… it was like the finger of God.’
Hawn has previously described the feeling as intensely peaceful and filled with light, saying the experience stayed with her for decades.
The star is mum to grown-up children Kate, 44, Oliver Hudson, 47, and Wyatt Russell, 37, with long-time partner Kurt Russell.
Each of her children, as well as her partner, are actors – and they have more in common than that, as Kurt shares Goldie’s fascination with the stars.
In 2017, he revealed in an interview on The One Show that he was the pilot who famously reported glowing lights in the sky over Phoenix in 1997, in what became one of the most famous UFO sightings in history.
Son Oliver was with him at the time, and in fact noticed the lights first as they were taking a private plane, with Kurt describing them as ‘six lights over the airport in absolute uniform in a V shape.’
He reported the lights but claims he didn’t think of it again – until Goldie was watching a documentary on UFO sightings years later.
