Goldie Hawn is opening up about a bizarre experience she says left her convinced she encountered something not of this world.
During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Hawn shared a story about the moment she believes she had an alien encounter as a young actress. She admits, “I know we’re not alone,” in her belief that there are other life forms in the universe.
Goldie Hawn Explained Her Otherworldly Encounter
“I was a dancer then, about 18-ish, 19 maybe,” Goldie Hawn told Jimmy Kimmel of her otherworldly encounter. “Dancing in Anaheim and I thought that was Hollywood, but it wasn’t.”
“I was living there in a little apartment and I went outside and sat there. I don’t know where this came from except I am always looking for things I can’t see to understand what’s going on in the world,” she continued.
“Looking up in the sky I said, ‘I know you’re up there and I know we’re not alone. And I want to meet you one day.’”
She continued, “That was that. And about three months later, I was dancing in a theater in the round and I got really sleepy. I don’t know why.”
“It was like someone gave me a shot of valium. I went outside and lay down in the back of a friend’s car, and I don’t remember anything after that. I heard a high-pitched sound in my ear. It was so loud. And I couldn’t move my body. I looked out the window, and two short people were looking at me with triangular-shaped, silver heads.”
Hawn concluded, “They communicated through sound, not through words, and they were pointing at me.” She revealed that later in the 1980s, she read a book that discussed different alien sightings and learned that people who claimed they were abducted were paralyzed and all heard a high-pitched sound. That’s when Hawn felt she truly had an alien encounter.
Goldie Hawn Appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ to Talk About Her First Children’s Book
GettyGoldie Hawn has written her first children’s book, “The After-School Kindness Crew: Pooch on the Loose #1.” This book is the first in a series to come that Hawn co-wrote with Lin Oliver.
According to a story published by PEOPLE Magazine, Hawn discussed how the book aligns with her MindUP initiative, which is “a mental health program rooted in neuroscience, positive psychology and social-emotional learning.” In this program, Hawn encourages children to take “brain breaks” throughout the day to give themselves better social and emotional coping mechanisms.
The book’s first installment shares a story of students who help find a shelter dog a home. Hawn says the book shows “kindness. This is caring. This is empathy⦠In these stories, we’re building areas of empathetic behavior. Why? Because empathy can be taught.”
She added, “It’s really, really satisfying to be able to take MindUP, which is a school program, and now putting it into children’s books and giving them sort of this experiential, funny option. And the books, of course, must be funny. I mean, that’s [the] bottom line, we have to have fun.â
