Lauren Boebert Tells MAGA Congressman, “Get a Warrant!”

After House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) pushed Republicans to pass a 45-day extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) Section 702 last week, the Republicans who voted against the extension continue to demand reforms and stronger protections for American citizens against warrantless surveillance and data collection.

[NOTE: Section 702 allows the federal government to collect digital communications of foreigners outside the country, but the program also, according to Roll Call, “sweeps up the communications of Americans and allows the FBI to search through data without a warrant, using information such as an email address.”]

MAGA-aligned U.S. Representative Eric Burlison (R-MO), who is also a software engineer, wrote on Thursday: “Republicans don’t get to use Section 702 the way Democrats did against us, then call it ‘fixed.’ It is not fixed until there’s a hard warrant requirement on every American search. Anything less is theater.”

Fellow House Republican Lauren Boebert (R-CO) replied to Burlison: “Get a warrant!”

GOP Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), who is also fighting for FISA Section 702 reforms, is simultaneously pushing for a FISA amendment to kill a surveillance mandate which would have automakers put cameras inside of new cars to determine if the driver is okay to drive.

Roy said if the mandate: “It puts the government and corporate cronies in your car to track all of your activities and to surveillance you. I oppose it.”

[NOTE: As seen below, Boebert is campaigning with Roy, who is running for Texas Attorney General.]
