Netflix’s Money Heist has officially announced an expanded universe as the crime drama confirmed that it ‘isn’t over yet’.
The streaming platform released a cryptic trailer showing a large group of people wearing the iconic Salvador Dali masks before the Professor, played by Álvaro Morte, takes his off and looks into the camera.
Created by Álex Pina, the acclaimed Netflix show set in Madrid follows a team of robbers, each using the name of a world city, as they carry out high-stakes heists.
Back in 2021, the show appeared to have ended for good with its fifth season.
However, five years later Netflix has now released a new teaser trailer, writing: ‘The world of Money Heist continues’.

Reacting to the latest announcement, fans have been left overjoyed over the inclusion of the ‘legendary’ Professor after there was some speculation that latest series could feature a different cast.
Writing on X, Josh declared: ‘As long as it has the professor, I’m watching it.’
Ryan also commented: ‘The mastermind is back… and the internet is already losing it!’
Meanwhile, Gamera87 also claimed that they were ‘super hyped and excited’ by the news as Swalker52 added: ‘I was not expecting this but wanted to have another one. Looking forward!’
In the exciting new teaser, the on-screen text reads: ‘It began with money. Then came gold and priceless treasures. But the revolution isn’t over yet. What comes next has already begun. The world of Money Heist continues.’
The official description also said: ‘Some stories start with the perfect strike. And this one changed everything.
‘From the first heist for cash to the most artful robbery of the century, including the assault that put tons of gold from the Bank of Spain on the line, the universe of Money Heist has never stopped growing, evolving, and surprising us.
‘But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that the revolution NEVER ends. From now on, this is mission control for everything in the Money Heist universe. If you want in on the next plan and don’t want to miss a single move from the gang, this is the place to be.’
Currently, it is still unclear whether the new trailer is for a sixth season or a spin-off series.
Writing on Reddit previously, some fans questioned whether there is ‘any reasonable scenario where they would do a new heist’.
Writing on the platform, one user called IBuy3960 said: ‘I hope it’s not season 6… I’ll be okay with another good spin-off, but please let ending of season 5 be, it was good and doesn’t need continuation…’
Tboy19 was also confused about what the plot would be after each character ‘received immunity in the end’, as YB Phoenix admitted that they ‘know the show is milking it at this point’.
Another user called Mr Enigma similarly added: ‘Milking the series I see. Let’s hope they don’t introduce plot holes upon plot-holes.’
Meanwhile, Cstar2077 asked: ‘Why is Money Heist coming back if it already had a perfect ending?’
Responding beneath, keidash said: ‘Unfortunately, that’s the case with most popular franchises. Most of them would have done well as a three season series.
‘But they always make the mistake of trying to milk it as much as they can by either adding way too many seasons, mediocre spinoffs or even both.’
