A proper announcement is expected at the State of Play (Ubisoft)

A reliable insider has claimed that buying the Rayman Legends remake will also net you a free copy of its predecessor, Rayman Origins.

There are plenty of rumours and theories surrounding what will be shown at tonight’s State of Play, but the most concrete of the lot is that Ubisoft will be announcing a remake of Rayman Legends.

A lot of info has already leaked about the remake. It’s titled Rayman Legends Retold, it launches this October, and it’ll feature brand new 3D sections as opposed to being just a graphical overhaul.

Now, it’s alleged that buying the remake will also net you a second Rayman game at no extra cost; specifically, an enhanced edition of Rayman Legends’ predecessor, Rayman Origins.

Recently, a Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition was spotted on the Xbox store. It looks to be a more straightforward re-release than a full remake, adding new quality-of-life features and 4K support.

Amusingly, it was also priced at $2,000 though that’s clearly a placeholder and the listing was soon deleted. Regardless, it looked as if this Rayman Origins re-release would be sold as a separate purchase.

However, according to the consistently reliable billbil-kun at Dealabs, Ubisoft is bundling Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition for free with copies of the Rayman Legends remake. They don’t mention if this will be the only way to acquire the game or not.

Whatever the case, it’s certainly an attractive offer since Rayman Legends Retold will allegedly be priced at $39.99 in the US. That’s the exact same price as the Nintendo Switch port of the original game.

Here in the UK, $39.99 translates to roughly £29.69 though it’ll likely be rounded up to £29.99 since that’s how much the original Rayman Legends costs for the Switch.

One disappointing detail, though, is that neither Rayman Legends Retold nor Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition will feature online co-op so you can only play multiplayer locally.

There was no online co-op option in the original games either, but you’d think that would be something Ubisoft would incorporate for a remake and/or re-release.

What time is the State of Play?

The State of Play airs tonight at 10pm BST and is scheduled to run for over an hour. You’ll be able to watch it on YouTube via the official PlayStation account.

So far, the only game officially slated for the showcase is Insomniac’s Wolverine, but there are rumours of a new God Of War game making an appearance as well as the return of live service game Fairgame$, which hasn’t seen an update since its 2023 announcement.
