Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has a new Chicago food obsession: tavern-style pizza.
He told “New Heights” podcast hosts Jason and Travis Kelce about trying the square-cut pizza with the cracker-thin crust on Wednesday, shouting out Zarella in River North.
“Honestly,” he said, “the best pizza I’ve had in my life.”
The Kelces asked Williams whether he keeps up with the members of his draft class — the Commanders’ Jayden Daniels, the Patriots’ Drake Maye, the Falcons’ Michael Penix, the Vikings’ J.J. McCarthy and the Broncos’ Bo Nix.
“We gotta play vs. each other at some point …” he said. “There’s not too much communication going on.”
They follow each other on social media, Williams said, but check in just occasionally. The Bears play the Vikings, Falcons and Patriots this year, all in the first half of the season. Williams noted that the Bears have the hardest schedule in the NFL, in terms of last year’s opponent winning percentage.
“We’re excited,” he said. “We don’t back down from no challenge.”
Williams joked about Johnson taking off his shirt after beating the Eagles, saying he bulked up in the weight room beforehand, talked about how competitive swimming helped him as a kid.
The quarterback told the Kelces that returning to OTAs was easier this year than last because Ben Johnson’s offense was no longer brand new.
“It’s a lot better coming back and you know the plays and have an idea of the plays,” he said.
Stevenson has spent part of his offseason talking to Bears offensive coaches and hitting them with a hypothetical question — how would they attack him?

Cornerback Kyler Gordon wasn’t happy with his injury-riddled season last year, and neither was his coach. Offseason workouts don’t seem to be going much better.
