Urgent manhunt launched after boy, 4, abducted in park in front of mother

An investigation has been launched after an infant was abducted from a Black Country park. The four-year-old boy was with his mother and playing near the fish pond at Haden Hill Park in Cradley Heath, just after 3pm on Thursday. The child then vanished for several minutes as his mother was tending to a baby.

A young child was allegedly abducted while playing near a pond in front of his mother.

The four-year-old disappeared at Haden Hill Park in Cradley Heath, West Midlands, on Thursday.

His mother was looking after a baby while he was playing near a fishing pond, police confirmed.

He was later found in a nearby woodland.

The incident occurred shortly after 3pm in the park off Halesowen Road.

Officers have identified a teenage suspect, described as black, short in height and with curly hair.

He was said to be wearing black clothing and was clean-shaven.

Despite the concerning circumstances, police believe the incident is isolated.

An investigation has been launched and CCTV footage is being studied to piece together events.

Specially trained officers are speaking to the boy and his family to establish what happened.

Anyone who was in the park at the time or has mobile footage is urged to contact police on 101 quoting log number 3966-180626.

Witnesses can also call Crimestoppers to stay anonymous.
