Disneyland closes 7 attractions during busy summer season
The Disneyland resort will close seven attractions for seasonal refurbishments during the busy summer season as the Anaheim theme parks kick off a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
Matterhorn Bobsleds, Soarin’ Over California, King Arthur Carrousel, Sailing Ship Columbia, Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition and Pixie Hollow will temporarily close in July for standard refurbishments and as part of seasonal schedules at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
The seven new attraction closures join Silly Symphony Swings that was already shuttered for refurbishment.

The Matterhorn Bobsleds roller coaster in Fantasyland at Disneyland will be closed for a brief refurbishment on July 20-23.
Soarin’ Over California will end its seasonal run on June 30 after returning during Disney California Adventure’s Food & Wine Festival. Soarin’ will be closed on July 1 so a new patriotic-themed film can be installed on the flight simulator ride in time for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Soarin’ Across America begins a limited time run at Disney California Adventure on July 2.

The 1922 King Arthur Carrousel with 68 hand-painted horses will be closed July 6-16 for seasonal refurbishment.
The Frontierland Shootin’ Exposition shooting gallery where visitors fire a replica buffalo rifle at a miniature Old West town will close on July 6 for an extended refurbishment. A reopening date has not been set.

Traffic on the Rivers of America at Disneyland will be disrupted with the Sailing Ship Columbia and the Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes out of commission in July. The Columbia will be out of service on July 1-3, July 6-10 and July 13-17. The human-powered canoes will be closed on July 1-2, July 6-9 and July 13-16.
The Silly Symphony Swings wave swing in DCA’s Paradise Gardens closed in April for seasonal refurbishment and will remain out of commission through at least early August.
The “Disney’s Celebrate America — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks show will play on July 3-5 at Disneyland in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.
