The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center will be relocating its programs and operations next spring as the venue prepares to host diving competitions during the 2028 Summer Olympics.
The temporary relocation will begin on Thursday, April 1, 2027, to nearby locations that will be announced at a later date. According to the RBAC, programs and operations will return to the aquatics center in the fall of 2028.
“We are incredibly grateful to have early commitments with several partners, such as local schools, colleges, cities, and other nonprofit pools, whose support will help us continue serving our community throughout this transition,” a RBAC statement read.
During the relocation the facility is expected to improve the diving tower, pools and related mechanical systems. No programs will be paused during the relocation, according to the RBAC.
Earlier this year, the RBAC closed its facilities as it underwent measurement and assessment work toward gaining the technical certification to host Olympic competition. Last year, the Los Angeles City Council approved organizers’ proposal to relocate diving to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center.
Diving events are scheduled to begin July 16 and conclude July 28. The Rose Bowl stadium will be hosting the latter stages of women’s and men’s soccer with gold medal matches scheduled for July 28 and July 29.
