Baggu sets opening date for Lincoln Park store

Baggu announced the opening date of its second Chicago store.

The California-based bag and accessories brand will open its Lincoln Park store, 2118 N. Halsted St., on Aug. 14, according to an Instagram post from Baggu last week. The 2,200-square-foot space was previously home to It’s A Secret Medspa.

When Baggu opened its first Midwest store in Wicker Park in 2024, hundreds lined up to get inside on the first day. At the time, Baggu Director of Retail Stephen Stananhan said Chicago was its third largest market.

The brand’s new location is in a highly trafficked retail and dining corridor. The shop is also about two blocks away from the CTA Armitage L stop, where trendy retailers like Buck Mason and Gorjana have outposts.

The Lincoln Park store will be the brand’s eighth location. It recently opened a store in Portland, Oregon, which joins five other locations in California and New York, as well as its Wicker Park store.

Baggu has surged in popularity in recent years, leading to a brick-and-mortar expansion. Its reusable grocery bags in unique prints, often done in collaboration with other artists or brands, are particularly beloved by Gen Z.

Its reusable shopping bag, which can fold into a small pouch, starts at $16. Most bags and purses are made from nylon, although recycled leather purses, starting at $90, have returned in recent years. Other products include socks, toiletry bags and glasses cases, at prices ranging from $10 to $46.

Baggu didn’t respond to a request for comment.
