Man charged in South Shore shooting

A man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with a Tuesday shooting in South Shore, according to Chicago police.

Marquise Earskines, 25, faces a charge for attempted murder and aggravated battery while discharging a firearm, along with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery, police said.

The 27-year-old man Earskines is alleged to have shot was in the 7300 block of South Blackstone Avenue at 8:43 p.m. when the two began arguing, and Earskines is alleged to have shot him in the left arm, police said.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.

Earskines was arrested less than an hour later, police said. He’s due in court for a detention hearing Friday.
