We all remember a time when we got the giggles in a truly inappropriate setting… now imagine if that was live on TV.

That’s what happened to a weather reporter from Vermont who absolutely lost it while presenting and hilariously couldn’t pull himself together.

Patrick Osborn was reporting on the showers and storms in and around Maine for WABI TV 5 when his voice began to crack, and it all went south.

Very quickly, he descended into a comically high-pitched squeal interspersed with futile attempts to catch his breath.

After covering his mouth to try and control his outburst, the presenter took himself off-screen and was inaudibly continuing his report.

He could be heard saying between laughs: ‘Ok, let me get it together real quick. I’m so sorry.’

The meteorologist attempted to carry on bringing the weather to viewers, but his words couldn’t be deciphered amid the noises he was making during his giggling fit.

Nonetheless, he got to the end of his segment before desperately handing over to his co-worker, reporter Josh Gabbard, who asked jovially: ‘What ever happened to professionalism, Patrick?’

The clip has been seen over a million times on X – one of the users who posted it, Collin Rugg, joked: ‘This guy was fighting for his life.’

Commenting on the bad weather he was reporting on, Sophia said: ‘He saw the snow and chose joy.’

Jessica S further remarked: ‘His laugh is contagious. I have been cursed with laughing uncontrollably too many times, and knowing you shouldn’t laugh is what makes it worse.’

According to his bio on the broadcaster’s website, Patrick joined the station in 2024 as the Weekend Meteorologist and his LinkedIn profile shows he was a freelance meteorologist for ABC22/FOX44 before that.

Explaining what had happened later, Patrick told anchor Brian Sullivan it was a prank that ‘backfired’.

He claimed that he was joking around with ‘producer Zoe’ and reporter Josh during the commercial break, but the whole thing accidentally bled into his report.

Patrick said that after Josh was ‘yapping away’ during the ads, they decided to tease him with the ‘Charlie Brown wa wa wa wa sound’ – only it kept playing during his live forecast.

This set them both off and Patrick reflected: ‘The rest is history, as they say.’

His on-air blunder comes at a time when viewers have been enjoying some fantastic side-splitting moments live on telly.

Earlier this month a QVC host in the US accidentally made a NSFW comment about a wig she was advertising. Instead of saying that it made you look as if you’d gone and got a ‘blowout’, she said it made you look like you went and got a ‘blow job’.

Meanwhile in the UK, Kate Garraway on Good Morning Britain gave a guest the giggles as she commented on the ‘skill of fingering’ while talking about playing the piano.
