Earthquake close to Ontario in San Bernardino County reported – magnitude 3.4 on Sept. 2

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIF. — A preliminary 3.4 magnitude quake occurred near Ontario, about 12.5 miles east of Riverside, on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor shook the area at 5:37 a.m. The earthquake’s epicenter was about 4 miles southeast of Ontario and occurred at a depth of 4 miles.

You can let the USGS know if you experienced the quake by filling out their Felt Report form. So far, the agency has collected 84 online responses from people reporting they felt weak shaking. Residents reported experiencing the tremor in a number of cities, such as Lake Elsinore, Covina, Corona, Claremont and Rancho Cucamonga according to the USGS DYFI report.
