2 boys critically wounded in Grand Boulevard shooting

Two boys, aged 14 and 17, were shot and critically injured Monday afternoon in Grand Boulevard, Chicago police said.

Officers responded to the 4100 block of South Prairie Avenue at about 3:49 p.m. and found the boys suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

The 14-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The 17-year-old boy was shot in the head and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center initially in critical condition, police said.

Area One detectives are investigating the shooting.
