A genuine noughties music icon made a surprise comeback this weekend at the most glamorous wedding of the year so far.

Pretty Little Thing CEO Umar Kamani, 36, tied the knot with his model wife Nada Adelle, 31, in a lavish four-day celebration in the south of France, thought to have cost a staggering £20,000,000.

The couple welcomed chart-topping diva Mariah Carey to their reception, where she serenaded guests with a set, while Nada also walked down the aisle to a live rendition of The Prayer by Andrea Bocelli.

But now it’s been revealed they were not the only music royalty in attendance, as a video of the crowd going wild to the one and only Jay Sean has been shared on social media.

Umar and Nada’s celebrity pals who had gathered to mark the special occasion with them included Naomi Campbell, boxer Anthony Joshua, Rio Ferdinand and his wife Kate and former soap star and current Dancing on Ice champion Ryan Thomas, who acted as one of the groom’s two best men.

Jay, 43, was seen giving a high-energy performance that needed little encouragement from him to inspire audience participation.

The London-born singer-songwriter treated his audience to Down, his 2009 hit with rapper Lil Wayne that reached number three in the charts.

It also topped the Billboard Hot 100, making him the first solo artist of South Asian origin – as well as the first UK urban act – to top the US charts.

A second clip showed the star, dressed in a dapper green velvet blazer, launching into Do You Remember, another hit from the same year that saw him collaborate with Sean Paul and Lil Jon. It got to number 13.

His appearance spared enthusiasm in the comments too, with one user joking: ‘Where was my invite????’

When another person appeared to dismiss the star by writing, ‘Imagine spending 20 million on your wedding but Jay Sean performs this song’, the popstar was fiercely defended.

‘If I had 20 million I’d still get Jay Sean to perform, he’s nostalgic for Brit Pakistanis/Indians,’ @thegirlnextdior21 hit back.

‘He along with others paved the way for Brit bhangra, Brit Indian Pop and made our teen years great!’ she added.

Jay was born Kamaljit Singh Jhooti and achieved his first chart success after dropping out of medical school as a member of the Rishi Rich Project.

Their song Dance With You reached number 12 in the charts in 2003 and led to Jay sgning a solo deal with Virgin Records.

Alongside the wedding bangers, Jay has also enjoyed hits in his career with Stolen, Eyes On You and Ride It, later teaming up with Nicki Minaj for 2012 (It Ain’t the End), Lil Wayne again for Hit the Lights and Alesha Dixon for 2011’s Every Little Part of Me.

In 2020, he reached number one on the BBC Asian Chart with his single Eyes On You 2 with Rishi Rich.

He also worked with Indian pop singer Guru Randhawa on the song Surma Surma.

Jay also has big plans for 2024, with a new single and album on the way.

‘Had a great day in NEW YORK last week talking in depth about our new record label 3am, our partners @virginmusic and @rangemusic and the first song Heartless from my upcoming album that drops later this year!’ he wrote.
