The spooky season is fast approaching, and Amazon Prime Video is kicking off the scariest time of the year with a hilarious treat.

Yes, to celebrate Halloween, the streaming service is releasing a Last One Laughing special that puts a fiendish twist on the usual formula.

Normally, the comedians taking part are bound by one simple rule: they can’t laugh, but this time hosts Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty will also be making sure the cast don’t scream.

Amazon has claimed that over the course of the Halloween Special, there’ll be plenty of tricks and treats.

Apparently we can expect ‘cursed props, ghostly interruptions and spine-tingling surprises’ all designed to send a shiver down the spine of even the bravest comedian.

So who will be trapped in Jimmy’s house of horrors this time around?

Who’s in the cast

Jack Dee

Professional grump and all-around grouch Jack Dee is one of the comedians who will be taking part.

The writer and stand-up is infamous for his deadpan delivery and generally gloomy outlook (although we swear we saw him crack a smile or two on Taskmaster), so he’ll probably be a tough nut for the other contestants to crack.

Daisy May Cooper may not have won the Last One Laughing series one, but she’s been allowed back on for another go.

The This Country writer and star was the fifth comedian to be knocked out on her last attempt, so we expect she’ll be determined to win the whole thing this time around.

Phil Wang

Stand-up Phil Wang is best known for his appearances on Would I Lie To You? and Have I Got News For You?, but he doesn’t just appear on shows with ‘You’ in the title.

The funnyman also made quite an impression on viewers when he wore a skintight yellow jumpsuit on Taskmaster that left very little to the imagination.

Lou Sanders

Like Daisy May Cooper, Lou Sanders is a Last One Laughing veteran from series one. Lou had a much more respectable finish, though, ending up fourth in the contest.

Still, if her bullish Taskmaster performance is anything to go by, we can’t imagine the hilarious comic being satisfied with anything other than first place.

Reece Shearsmith

A member of the League of Gentlemen and one half of the team behind Inside No 9. Reece Shearsmith brings a certain spooky energy to this Halloween special that seems very appropriate.

While he might be best known for making his own chilling shows for the BBC, treading the boards at the theatre, or collecting horror memorabilia, Reece is a TV staple.

In recent years, he’s appeared on Taskmaster (quelle surprise), Peter Kay’s Car Share, and The Witchfinder. Oh, and he also had a cameo in Venom: Let There Be Carnage that I feel obligated to acknowledge.

Harriet Dyer

Harriet Dyer received the second Sean Lock Comedy Award.

Stand-up comedian and writer, Harriet Dyer, will be no stranger to fans of Live at the Apollo and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

The award- winning-comic has also appeared on The Russell Howard Hour, Rosie Jones’ Disability Comedy Extravanganza, and Meet the Richardsons.

Tom Allen

Tom Allen is a triple-threat comedian, meaning he can sing, dance, act and present… wait, that’s four things. So I guess he’s a quadruple threat.

Another TV staple, Tom has worked on almost every panel show under the sun and presented Bake Off: The Professionals as well as The Apprentice: You’re Fired!
