<p id=”par-1_67″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/chuck-lorre-kind-of-shares-a-quirk-with-sheldon-cooper.html/”>Chuck Lorre</a> is no fan of Anna Faris. At least, that’s how it seems from his newly released memoir, <em>Sitcom</em>. In one chapter, he all but eviscerates the actress and leaves room for rumors to swirl. His comments were brutal, but the way Faris found out about them might be worse: the former <em>Mom</em> star apparently learned how he felt along with the rest of the world.</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-what-did-chuck-lorre-say-about-anna-faris”>What did Chuck Lorre say about Anna Faris?</h2>
<p id=”par-2_91″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/anna-faris-never-thought-she-would-end-up-in-comedy.html/”>Anna Faris</a> spent seven years on <em>Mom</em>, but Chuck Lorre apparently never wanted her on the show in the first place. In <em>Sitcom</em>, the famed showrunner wrote that he resisted casting Faris as Christy Plunkett because he wasn’t sure she suited the material. He said he changed his mind after reflecting on how badly he’d handled his working relationship with <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/two-and-a-half-men-charlie-sheens-arrest-followed-with-a-raise-to-1-8-million-an-episode.html/”>Charlie Sheen on <em>Two and a Half Men</em></a>. Lorre went on to say CBS was willing to go on with a “perfect” cast, which further pushed Faris into the role. </p>

<p id=”par-3_58″>Lorre also criticized Faris’s departure from <em>Mom</em>. He wrote that his first instincts about her turned out to be right, and that she left the series for “mysterious reasons” that weren’t mysterious to anyone on the show. He didn’t say what those reasons were and left them open to interpretation, which some critics saw as a deliberate dig.</p>
<h2 class=”wp-block-heading” id=”h-anna-faris-has-responded”>Anna Faris has responded</h2>
<p id=”par-4_60″>Chuck Lorre’s characterization of Anna Faris was not flattering, but her response to his diss certainly was. Faris opted not to stay quiet about Lorre’s words, but she kept things classy. Two days after the memoir’s October 13 release, she addressed his comments on <a href=”https://www.instagram.com/p/DeiF7UmvyAv/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&rpxt=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==”>Instagram</a>. She opened her post with “Yikes,” and said she hadn’t seen his hurtful words coming.</p>

<p id=”par-5_49″>She went on to say she loved her time on <em>Mom</em> and was still grateful to Lorre for the opportunity. She also revealed that she has been sober for a year and a half, and noted that she starred on a show about recovery and then lived it herself.</p>

<p id=”par-7_30″><em>Mom</em> premiered on CBS on September 23, 2013, and ran for eight seasons before ending on May 13, 2021. It was created by Chuck Lorre, Eddie Gorodetsky, and Gemma Baker.</p>

Her recovery gets more complicated when her estranged mother, Bonnie (Allison Janney), also a recovering alcoholic, comes back into her life.</p>
<p id=”par-9_47″><a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/why-did-anna-faris-leave-mom.html/”>Faris announced her exit </a>on September 4, 2020, and CBS said soon afterward that the show would end after its eighth season. At the time, she called her years on <em>Mom</em> some of the most rewarding of her career and thanked Lorre, the writers, and her castmates.</p>
