Anne Hathaway Shares Rare Glimpse Into Mom Life With 2 Kids and ‘Dream’ Husband

Anne Hathaway is opening up about life behind the red carpet, sharing a rare look at motherhood, marriage and how she manages it all while juggling one of her busiest work years yet.

With major projects like “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” “Mother Mary,” and “Verity” keeping her schedule packed, Hathaway told Vogue Australia that her biggest priority is still getting home to her two sons, Jonathan and Jack, as much as possible.

“I flew all night and was at the breakfast table with my kids,” she said, per Vogue Australia. “Given the way my schedule’s been, I just need to prioritise time with my kids. Get as much of it as I can.”

Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman married in 2012 and share sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6. Despite being one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, she has kept her family life intentionally private and says protecting her children’s space is non-negotiable.

In a past interview with Porter, Hathaway explained, “It’s something I feel is not just essential for my health — I’m on a team, it’s my family, and it’s not just about me.”

She added that children deserve room to create their own identities outside of fame, saying, “One of the needs of children is that they need to be able to define their own lives.”

Why Anne Says ‘Balance’ Doesn’t Really Exist

Hathaway also recently admitted she no longer believes in the idea of perfect balance as a working mom.

Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar last month, she said she feels “very defeated” by the concept of trying to perfectly split time between work and motherhood.

“Kids interrupt you all the time,” she said, explaining that life before children had a much more uninterrupted focus.

Instead of chasing balance, Hathaway said she and her friends now focus on something more realistic: harmony.

“We seek to harmonize our life,” she explained, calling it a much more forgiving way to approach motherhood.

She has also shared how becoming a mom changed her personally. In a 2022 interview with WSJ Magazine, Hathaway said, “I didn’t feel fully landed and fully here until I was a mom.”

She explained that motherhood made her want “to be completely, on every level, true to my word,” adding that it helped her let go of habits and behaviors that no longer served her.

Even her career choices changed. Hathaway previously said she has become much more selective with projects because time away from her children has to feel truly worth it.

While Hathaway is balancing press tours and film releases, she says none of it would be possible without Shulman, whom she recently called her “dream partner” in People’s 2026 “World’s Most Beautiful” issue.

“He supports me completely,” she said. “The way he stepped up, I mean, in every possible way, he’s the most extraordinary person I’ve ever met.”

The couple first met in 2008 and have now been married for more than a decade. Hathaway said this past year especially showed her just how much she relies on him.

“He holds it down,” she said. “I hope that doesn’t sound like I’m bragging, but he’s a dream partner to me.”

She even gave him a shoutout for being “a wonderful cook,” joking that one of the ways she values him most is through his kitchen skills, including a recent “bangin’ salmon” dinner he made for the family.

Hathaway has also said she hopes her sons stay away from acting while they’re still young.

“You have all the time in the world to be a professional actor; you can only be a child once,” she said.

For Hathaway, motherhood may have changed everything, but it is clearly the role she values most.

As she put it, “I absolutely would not be able to have achieved what I’ve done without my husband.”
