‘M*A*S*H’ actress Gwen Farrell

Gwen Farrell, who was best known for her recurring role on the iconic series “M*A*S*H,” passed away at the age of 93 on April 30, TMZ reports.

Her son, Keith Farrell, told the outlet that she died in Sherman Oaks of natural causes.

Throughout her career, Farrell had a recurring role in “M*A*S*H,” where she portrayed a nurse, being on of the longest-serving recurring cast members of the hit show. In the opening sequence, Farrell was one of the five nurses seen running towards the chopper pad. According to her IMDB page, she appeared in a total of 26 episodes from 1972 to 1983.

She also had credits in “Starsky and Hutch” and “Billy Jack Goes to Washington.”

Following her passing, a GoFundMe was launched, with her family remembering her as having “lived a life full of strength, character, and quiet resilience.”

Farrell was the daughter of Lovie Yancey, who founded Fatburger, with the tribute sharing that she “carried forward that same determination and independence throughout her life.”

“Gwen’s journey was anything but ordinary,” the GoFundMe read. “She had a brief moment on screen, appearing as a nurse in the beloved television series M*A*S*H, but her true legacy was built in the real world through her strength, her presence, and the way she carried herself every single day.”

She is also remembered as being “so much more to her family.”

“She was a grandmother, a guiding light, and a steady source of love and wisdom. She had a way of making those around her feel supported, understood, and cared for without needing recognition,” the continued. “Her passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, one that cannot be filled. We will miss her voice, her strength, and the quiet comfort she brought into our lives. While we are heartbroken, we are also incredibly grateful for the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.”

The fundraiser has a goal of $13,000.

Following her acting career, Farrell transitioned to a career in boxing, serving as a referee in California. There, she became a trailblazer for women in that sport, as not many were involved in boxing. Farrell also made history as the first woman to referee a World Title fight.
