Big Brother host Will Best agrees with the fans: the live eviction interviews are way too short.
Last night, Chelsey Ammari became the second housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house after clashes with celebrity guests Jedward and hugely popular housemates were blasted by viewers.
The social worker was up against Pauline Adeyemo and didn’t stand a chance when the carer is one of the front-runners to win the entire series by quite a stretch.
However, despite Will promising we’ll ‘dig deep on all the drama’ inside the house, there was only so much he and AJ Odudu could cover following the axe of Big Brother: Late and Live when evicted housemates would always get a good grilling.
Chatting to his followers during an Instagram Live following the show last night, Will – who is expecting his first baby with partner Tobi Rose – heard the complaints and he’s with us.
‘Those interviews are so short,’ he said. ‘We had seven minutes with her – that’s mad. So I do miss Late and Live.’
Big Brother viewers complained in their droves that the interview was ‘an absolute disaster’ with Chelsey being interrogated outside next to loud and rowdy fashion booing over the entire thing.
One viewer fumed: ‘Give them their late and live and good interview without a crowd thats interupting. (even the chelsey backing down on joanne and the crowd coming up for her was good ngl).’
‘The fact the evictee has had a crap interview (due to it being outside) and thats it for the night is crazy…,’ said another, which was followed by: ‘This is an absolute disaster of an interview. This wouldn’t happen if we still had late & live.’
Another suggested the evicted housemate should at least go straight into an interview with GK Barry and Big Brother series three winner Kate Lawler who are hosting the new spin-off series, The Group Chat.
‘Why not have The Group Chat interview the evictee? Im LOVING Kate Lawler AND we’d get a decent interview WITHOUT that screamin bunch of desperados in late & live,’ they said.
However, there were plenty of fans loving the chaos too.
‘Am I the only one who enjoyed the outdoor interview? We don’t get late and live I need to inject any bit of chaos I can,’ another audience member wrote on X, while many more agreed.
Someone else tweeted’: I’ll be honest I think I’ve watched BB evictions on auto pilot in recent years out of the love i used to have for the show when it was at its best. Tonight was the first time I was interested in the eviction interview and it felt like event tv again. This series is great!’
Will was asked if Late and Live should return for one night a week on Fridays, saying: ‘That is not a bad shout.’
However, he explained to fans that without the viewing figures, it’s just not going to happen.
‘The reality is, the live streaming, Late and Live, in the world we live in now it’s really expensive,’ he said. ‘Telly has changed, it’s sad.
‘Late and Live was such a fun show but it was a live audience, massive crew, huge production team, it was on at 10pm on a Wednesday night and we’d get a couple of hundreds though viewers, it didn’t make sense to keep it going.’
He added: ‘I do also want the live stream, I want the live series back – for this series especially.’
This has been the series most celebrated by fans since the show’s resurrection on ITV. Streaming numbers are up 32% compared to 2025 while social clips are reaching the tens of millions.
Big Brother returns Sunday at 9pm on ITV2.
