Cara Delevingne has hit back at trolls after she was accused of being ‘coked up’ during a Met Gala interview, despite being sober for almost two years.

The 31-year-old model has previously shared her struggle with drugs and alcohol, having been to rehab after failed interventions from family members.

At the Met Gala she looked happy and healthy after a recent ordeal where a fire ravaged her home in Los Angeles.

Wearing a glittering VRAI x Stella McCartney headpiece covered in lab-grown diamonds, Cara stopped for an interview which was interrupted by the designer herself.

Stella, 52, and Ed Sheeran, 33, surprised the American Horror Story actress who widened her eyes in shock as they appeared from behind.

As she realised who was behind her, Cara jokingly called them ‘mum’ and ‘dad’ as they derailed the interview, leading trolls to accuse her of being drunk or on drugs.

Jessica Bosch accused: ‘She’s not sober 💔 the way she even stroked the interviewer’s wrist… She’s nowhere near sober.’

‘They’re saving her from ruining the interview because she’s so coked up they had to intervene,’ added Amanda Renee in the comments.

Many rushed to defend Cara in the comments and slamming the trolls for bringing up a sensitive topic so callously.

Even the model herself weighed in and hit back with a comment, stating: ‘Been clear for nearly two years!! Thanks for the support.’

Concern was sparked in September 2022, after a series of paparazzi photos emerged of the supermodel looking dishevelled and appearing erratic on several occasions following a trip to Burning Man.

She revealed she had pushed her friends away initially but after the pictures everyone, including Suicide Squad co-star Margot Robbie, rallied around her.

In July last year, the Paper Towns actress shared how difficult it was to recover as she faced several bumps in the road.

She told Elle UK at the time: ‘It hasn’t [been easy], but there have never been moments when I’m like, “This isn’t worth it.”

‘It’s been worth every second. I just don’t know what it would take for me to give it up. I am stable. I’m calmer.’

In her heartbreaking confession, Cara added: ‘For a long time, I felt like I was hiding a lot from people who looked up to me. I finally feel as though I can be free and myself, fully.’

This isn’t the only time she’s addressed her mental health though as in April she told Vogue she hadn’t been ‘ready’ to face up to her demons until she fell into a ‘bad place’.

As their cover star, she explained: ‘I’ve had interventions of a sort, but I wasn’t ready. That’s the problem.

‘I hadn’t seen a therapist in three years. I just kind of pushed everyone away, which made me realise how much I was in a bad place.’

Since the Burning Man incident, Cara has remained sober and been booked and busy – most recently starring in the West End production of Cabaret.
