Cat Deeley has explained what co-parenting looks like in the wake of her split from husband Patrick Kielty last year.

The pair announced their separation in July 2025, after 12 years of marriage.

During that time, Patrick, 55, and the former CD:UK host, 49, had welcomed two sons together – Milo in 2016 and James in 2018.

In a joint statement, Cat and Patrick communicated that their focus would be on their two children.

‘We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment,’ the statement read.

Now one year on, Cat has shared an insight into how post-breakup parenting works for them both.

Describing the situation as ’50-50,’ Cat told The Times that it was ‘about being as organised as you can possibly be.’

‘I have an amazing nanny too,’ she added, sharing that ‘everybody’s doing their best.’

Joined in the interview by This Morning co-host Ben Shephard, he interjected: ‘I look back now, and I realise I struggled with my dad, through my teenage years particularly. We’re very, very different people. But I just realised how hard they were working and trying to make it work for us. As Cat says, they were just doing their best.’

Cat currently lives in London, where she and Ben have co-hosted the popular ITV breakfast show since 2024. Meanwhile, Patrick divides his time between London and Dublin, where he presents the long-running talk show The Late Late Show.

Returning to the series last September, he briefly alluded to the end of his marriage when he thanked the audience for their ongoing support.

‘One of the greatest joys of hosting this show is that you’re never alone,’ he said in an emotional opening speech.

Cat and Patrick first met in 2002, while hosting the BBC reality show Fame Academy. The pair remained friends for a decade before announcing that they had become a couple in March 2012.

A year later, they married during an intimate ceremony at a 17th-century chapel in Rome.

The couple separated seven years after welcoming their second child together, confirming that ‘no other party was involved’ in their break-up.

Neither has revealed the precise circumstances behind the split, although it’s believed that Patrick ‘knew’ his marriage was over when Cat failed to attend his mother’s funeral.

‘Cat obviously knew how close Patrick was to Mary, and she should have come to be by his side, a hand on his shoulder as he buried his mother,’ a source told Daily Mail at the time.

A spokesperson for Cat told MailOnline: ‘Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.’

Earlier this year, Cat was all smiles when spotted on a date with movie executive Charlie Coleman.

Attending a Lewis Capaldi gig together in Hyde Park, pictures showed the pair with their hands placed affectionately on one another as the date progressed.

An onlooker told The Sun: ‘The pair were all smiles, laughing and animatedly chatting.

‘At one point, Charlie touched Cat’s bare back affectionately, and she was also tactile with him as they sipped on drinks in paper cups.

‘They seemed very relaxed with each other and shared several jokes.’
