Channing Tatum Shares Emotional Poem About the ‘Head and Heart’ Amid Ex Zoë Kravitz’s Engagement News

Channing Tatum & Zoë Kravitz

Channing Tatum, 46, took to his Instagram Story to share a reflective poem, seemingly reacting to the news of his ex Zoë Kravitz’s engagement to Harry Styles.

The poem, written by John Roedel, who shared his piece to Instagram several days before Tatum reposted it, begins by discussing one’s inability to get their mind, heart and body on the same page, leaving the person to feel lost about what they truly want and how to attain it.

“My brain and heart divorced a decade ago / about who was to blame about how big of a mess I have become / Eventually, they couldn’t be in the same room together,” Tatum shared, according to E! News. “Now my head and heart share custody of me. They blame each other for the state of my life / there’s been a lot of yelling — and crying / so, / lately I’ve been spending a lot of time with my gut / who serves as my unofficial therapist.”

As the poem continues, a feeling of doom presents itself before the “gut” steps in to suggest a time of rest while the head and heart find their way back to each other. The “heart is always sad about something that happened yesterday,” the poem reads, adding that the head is “always worried about something that may happen tomorrow.”

“My gut smiled and said: / ‘in that case, you should stay with your lungs for a while.’ There is only breath / and in that breath, you can rest while your heart and head work out their relationship,” the poem continued. “I packed a little bag and walked to the doors of the lungs / before I could even knock, she opened the door with a smile and a gust of wind embraced me, she said / ‘what took you so long?’”

Tatum, who is currently dating 26-year-old Australian model Inka Williams, was previously engaged to Kravitz. The former couple formed a romantic relationship after Kravitz cast the “21 Jump Street” actor in her directorial debut film, “Blink Twice.” They dated from 2021 until 2024 and were engaged for nearly a year before splitting. According to People, a source shared that Tatum and Kravitz ended their relationship, citing being in “different stages” of their lives.

Three months after their breakup, Tatum was romantically linked to Williams in February 2025 when they attended a pre-Oscars party in Los Angeles.

Kravitz, on the other hand, began dating Styles in August 2025. People confirmed their engagement on April 27 — the same day Tatum shared Roedel’s emotive poem.

Zoë Kravitz Speaks Highly of Ex Channing Tatum

Following their split, Kravitz opened up to ELLE about her admiration for Tatum. Although they were no longer together, she credited him for having “a lot to offer.”

“I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much,” Kravitz said of Tatum’s work in “Blink Twice,” adding, “Even when you bring up how great his performance is, it warms my heart to hear that, and I’m so happy that all of it happened. I just feel so grateful that we got to go on that journey together.”

Despite Tatum’s cryptic doubt about his heart and mind’s decision-making, he and his now-girlfriend, Williams, have been open about their relationship by sharing glimpses of their love behind the scenes, as well as declaring their love for each other in their Instagram comments.
