Courteney Cox has reportedly quietly parted ways with her partner of 13 years, Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid.

The celebrity couple, who have been together since 2013 and even had a brief engagement, are understood to have ended their relationship towards the end of 2025.

The Friends star, 62, and Irish music artist, 49, have been split between the US and the UK throughout their 13-year romance, with their break-up reportedly being ‘amicable’.

‘Johnny speaks incredibly highly of Courteney. They had a very deep relationship and they remain extremely amicable. They are great friends and care about each other very much.

‘This was not an ugly split. They had simply reached a point where they were living different lives,’ a friend of the couple told the Mail on Sunday.

The couple first met through their mutual friend, global megastar Ed Sheeran, with whom McDaid has co-written huge hits such as Shape of You, Photograph and Galway Girl.

The pair did get engaged for a short time after getting together but, after breaking up in 2015, they got back together in 2016 and have stayed as partners ever since.

Although they have spoken about each other in interviews and been seen out and about together in the past, it has been several months since the exes have been seen together.

The Monica Geller actor has been open about their past relationship troubles, including the break they took early on.

Explaining on the Minnie Questions podcast that she and McDaid went to therapy together, she revealed he broke up with her in the first minute of their session.

‘I didn’t know it was coming…. We were engaged and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain,’ the Hollywood star recounted at the time.

But, on reflection, she was grateful they ended things initially.

‘I’m so thankful for that breakup because when we got back together it was a different relationship, but also because it really taught me how I operated in the world — what were the things from my childhood that I needed,’ she said.

Prior to her relationship with McDaid, Cox was married to actor David Arquette from 1999 to 2013, and they share one daughter together, Coco.

Metro has reached out to Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid’s representatives for comment.
