Lisa Stansfield and her husband Ian Devaney aren’t often pictured together in public, so a recent public appearance certainly caught onlookers by surprise.

The 57-year-old went for a stroll in London’s affluent Hampstead with her producer beau, 34 years after changing lives with single All Around The World.

Lisa went for a monochrome ensemble, aside from her white plastic bag, and plenty of layers to face the early spring chilly temperatures. The chic combination of black bottoms, blazer, and coat was paired with a YSL belt, baker boy hat, and Gucci loafers. Ian got the blazer memo but chose to carry his goods in a handy rucksack.

Ian, 58, and Lisa married in 1998 after many years of friendship. Previously, Lisa wed Italian designer Augusto Grassi in 1987, but the union only lasted four months.

Their platonic relationship began as teenagers when they starred in the same school play, and it wasn’t long before they became musical collaborators. Alongside friend Andy Morris, they formed Blue Zone, and even after the band split, Ian and Andy continued to work on production for Lisa’s solo records.

In October 1989, they created Lisa’s most successful song to date. Speaking about how the trio created the hit, she said: ‘I came into the studio, and Ian was messing around at the piano.

‘He had a melody, and I just started singing: “Been around the world and I, I, I…” Everyone laughed but Ian said, “Wait, it’s really good, that”.’

Lisa added to The Guardian: ‘It just came into my head – it was nonsense, but had a really good feel to it. “I, I, I” became the main hook. We’d no idea how massive it would become.’

‘The song came together really quickly. Once Lisa had all the lyrics down and I’d done a basic track with Andy, the whole vocal was two takes,’ recalled Ian.

The song was nominated for two Grammy Awards, won an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, and reached number one on the UK’s singles chart.

Although Lisa feels she’s had one of the best jobs in the world, she previously told Metro.co.uk that it comes with its disadvantages too.

‘A lot of it was exhilarating but every job has a pain-in-the-arse element,’ she shared.

‘It’s probably one of the best jobs in the world but I found not having time to myself and constantly being looked at difficult. It gets to you after a while but it’s just part of the job.’
