The first substantial DLC update for 007 First Light is already out and it’s added long requested features and… a cute doggy.

While Nintendo Switch 2 owners need to wait until March to even start playing 007 First Light, everyone else is currently being treated to a substantial drop of DLC.

This year’s James Bond blockbuster video game has already seen a handful of post-launch updates since May, but they were minor patches and didn’t add anything substantially new to the experience.

That changes with what developer IO Interactive is calling the Extended Operations update, which adds a smattering of new content. And best of all, it’s completely free.

First things first, the DLC fulfils a promise made in the base game and gives you access to the Aston Martin Valhalla, which is now accessible via four brand new driving missions set in the Slovakian mountains.

These will be available through the TacSim mode, alongside another extra mission at the Pearl resort in Vietnam, that sees you needing to retrieve classified documents.

You’re also now allowed access to more weapons during TacSim missions than before, meaning the main game’s entire arsenal is at your disposal, as well as two entirely new weapons and three new costumes for Bond.

The other major additions are the long requested New Game+ and photo modes, with the former arriving with a new 00 difficulty option for those who really want a challenge. In this mode, IO threatens tougher combat, smarter enemies, and more restricted use of gadgets.

There are a couple of minor gameplay tweaks too, that dedicated players will want to keep an eye out for. The first is improved weapon handling animation fidelity, which aims to offer more precision to Bond’s movement.

The second is that Bond is now susceptible to being thrown off ledges by enemies; something that seems to have been added in response to how often players have dispatched enemies the same way.

Without a doubt the most important addition to First Light, though, is new bulldog mascot Jack, who you can interact with and pet while at base. His inclusion was promised if First Light reached seven million wishlists across all platforms.

There are still a few more additions IO has planned for First Light, athough none of them have exact dates for when they’ll be made available.

IO has promised a secret something to celebrate James Bond Day, which is on October 5 (the anniversary of the very first Bond movie), but there’s no telling when to expect the new G2 glasses gadget or the new mission featuring Lenny Kravitz’s character, crime lord Bawma.
