Rockstar has confirmed more details about GTA 6, including dynamic weather systems and activities such as mini-golf and zoos.

Despite several trailers and an Extended Look presentation, we still know relatively little about the scope and features of GTA 6.

We know Jason and Lucia are the game’s dual protagonists, and that it’s set in the Florida-inspired fictional state of Leonidas. It’s also set to sport Rockstar’s largest map ever and emphasise realism to a greater degree than any of the previous games.

And now we have some more concrete details, thanks to a new preview on Game Informer, including details on wildlife, activities, weather, and all the regions of the map.

In the preview, Rockstar reiterated that the map is twice as large as GTA 5, and packs more detail than past games. The map itself will be divided into six main regions: Vice City, the Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga National Park.

‘This new world is different,’ Rockstar co-studio head, Aaron Garbut, told the outlet. ‘We obsessed about every part – the rooftops, the alleys, the internals and everything in between to the point we hit a critical mass with the numbers of our interiors, and you start to feel the buildings are more real inside and out.

As for the weather, Rockstar is promising a more dynamic system, which will include tropical storms and hurricanes. It’s said these conditions can be localised to specific areas of the map too, so you might stand beneath clear skies in one area, as a storm thunders down in the distance.

It’s unclear whether these weather changes will affect the gameplay, but the preview highlights that water will pour from rooftops and lampposts during heavy rainfall, and thunder will illuminate the clouds.

Additionally, Rockstar is promising 170 species of wildlife in GTA 6, including over 60 bird types, more than 30 land mammals, along with reptiles and sea life. The latter includes different shark species, whales, turtles, and jellyfish.

Along with animals native to Florida, GTA 6 will include invasive species such as the green iguana, the feral cat, cane toad, nine-banded armadillo, and the rhesus macaque monkey.

Beyond the wildlife, Rockstar has confirmed several activities in GTA 6, although many of them have already been seen in the trailers. These include base jumping, billiards, gyms, kayaking, mini golf, scuba diving, street and off-road racing, zoos, air boating, and jet skiing.

As part of the preview, Rockstar released 12 new screenshots, showing off the map’s regions, along with Jason and Lucia posing on a beach.

Overall, as an interactive world, it sounds impressive but – much like the trailers – it suggests that as good as GTA 6 looks it doesn’t have much in the way of new ideas or features.

We’ll only know for sure when GTA 6 launches across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026.
